Former President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday, said he witnessed a lot of betrayal while seeking reelection in 2015.

Jonathan made the remark at the 70th birthday anniversary of Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe in Benin, Edo State capital.

He said many Nigerian politicians were not dependable.

According to Jonathan, Oghiadomhe is one of the few friends I have who can give out their neck for me.

“Politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals. I have witnessed a lot of betrayal during 2015 election.”

“You’ll find it difficult to see somebody who will say the same thing in the morning and say the same thing in the afternoon and in the evening.

“They will tell you something this minute and the next one hour, they’ll say another. The next one hour they’ll say another thing. But, I am quite pleased to associate with Oghiadomhe,” he said.

He added that Oghiadomhe “is one person who will take a bullet on my behalf”.

“For me, he is somebody that you can take his words to the bank. Most politicians, you can not take their words to the bank.”

Daily Trust reports that Oghiadomhe served as Chief of Staff to Jonathan between 2010 and 2014.

Among the dignitaries at the event were Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Chief Medical Director (CMD), UBTH, Prof (Mrs) Izia Ize-Iyamu, ex-Governor Lucky Igbinedion, ex-Governor Oserheimen OsunborEx; Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Chief Tom Ikimi, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and others

GEJ is referring to the same group of people we all know about. The people who praised Buhari as the best for 8 years, then condemned him as the worst as soon as he handed over.

Whenever you hear backstabbing/betrayal, it’s always this same group of people. They’re online 24/7 using Amaechi’s laptops for propaganda. United by hate against Igbos, and chameleons by nature.

Tinubu is also part of the people that betray you, some of them are also in and out of APC because they have also been betrayed, no peace for the wicked..

Majority of them are bitting their fingers now, had I known, GEJ should have even be allowed to rule this country till eternity...

Why should the north who doesn't contribute anything to the national purse have to dictate to south that funds the whole country . The south south that their oil is what we export major to share the proceeds to the whole country should even have special privileges.

Also of how a once giant nation lost a decade after that incident..

I personally do not feel any pity for Jonathan or any other member of the elite gang that collectively brought the country to its knees, and make the people poorer year after year, even worse still today..

Back to 2015, He (!Jonathan) chickened out because of threats from the northern political actors led by the late Buhari to bring down fire and brimstone if they are once again denied the opportunity to rule as they saw 2007 and 2011 as the North's turn to rule the country.

The betrayals he mentioned only catalysed the process.

He made the statement below without gun pointed at his head

"I would have loved that Nigerians in the diaspora vote this year but to be frank with you that is going to be difficult now," Jonathan told Nigerians in Ethiopia's capital.
"Nigerians in the diaspora will not vote but I will work towards it by 2015, even though I will not be running for election," he added.

The PDP has won every presidential race since the end of military rule in 1999 and after securing its nomination for the April 9 vote, Jonathan has emerged as the clear front-runner.

Betrayal at the last minute is part of nigeria politics to snatch power from the incumbent.
The northerners are very good at it. That is why 2027 election will be very interesting.

If these statements are truly from GEJ, then I can confidently conclude that he's not interested in 2027. Politicians seeking the favour from their peers often go cagey and diplomatic, not wanting to ruffle feathers but our Jona is very blunt here. Let's see how things pan out.
