GALE OF REVERSALS: Eight appointments Tinubu reversed after announcement

1. In August, Tinubu reappointed Muheeba Dankaka as chair of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) but replaced her hours later with Ayo Omidiran.

2. Asu Okang was named to the NDDC board in 2024, only to be replaced by Orok Otuk Duke.

3. Ruby Onwudiwe’s CBN board appointment was withdrawn over her Labour Party affiliation.

4. On March 18, Tinubu asked the senate to reverse the nomination of two INEC RECs, just six days after forwarding their names.

5. Ibrahim Kashim Imam was appointed FERMA board chair on October 13, 2023, but his appointment was withdrawn two days later.

6. Idris Olorunnimbe’s UBEC board chairmanship was cancelled in July and replaced with Tanko Al-Makura.

7. Maryam Shetty was dropped as a ministerial nominee on her screening day and replaced with Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure.

8. The appointments of Rotimi Pedro (DG, NTA), Stella Din-Jacob (Executive Director, News), and Karimah Bello (Executive Director, Marketing) were reversed less than two weeks after they were announced.

Tinubu isn’t the one personally making these appointments.
• Most candidates are pushed by lobbyists, who present polished, “buffed-up” resumes to the president’s staff.
• Tinubu likely cannot even recognize many of these appointees if he walked past them in his own office.
• Often, once the appointments are announced and social media backlash hits, the administration quickly retracts or reshuffles them.

In short, the system is lobbyist-driven, and Tinubu acts more as a ceremonial rubber stamp than an active selector.

"If you do this, go into your pocket & give them peanuts when they are in that helpless and desperate situation, they will blindly follow you for the rest of their life, worshiping you". They are the same people who plunged Nigeria into the situation she is. They are the same people who are responsible for their predicaments. Did you see the numbers of people that throng to Saraki's House during this Sallah period to go collect peanuts? People trooping to Bola Ahmed Tinubu Foundation offices to collect branded One kilo bag of Rice & Noddles. Did you see the number of people of all ages who troop out to welcome Ex- convict James Ibori to South South! Do you see the number of handle mop following obi as if he is a seat? what of the one following dino malaye?
