Kurrent.app Becomes Nigeria’s First Free Website And Whatsapp Store Builder
For years, Nigerian entrepreneurs have struggled with the cost and complexity of building a digital presence. Hiring a web designer could cost hundreds of thousands of naira, while e-commerce platforms often require steep monthly subscriptions. For small business owners — from fashion designers in Yaba to food vendors in Port Harcourt — the dream of owning a professional online storefront often felt out of reach.

But that’s changing. Kurrent.app has stepped forward as Nigeria’s first free website and WhatsApp store builder, offering every entrepreneur a chance to put their business online without spending a kobo upfront. This move has the potential to reshape how Nigerians buy, sell, and connect in the digital space.

Why a Digital Presence Matters in Today’s Nigeria

Nigeria is one of the fastest-growing digital markets in Africa. Over 122 million Nigerians are active internet users, and WhatsApp remains the country’s most popular social app. Yet, millions of small businesses are still operating offline or relying only on Instagram and word-of-mouth.

Visibility equals credibility: In Lagos, a shoe vendor with a simple website appears more trustworthy than one who only sells via DMs.

Sales beyond your street: A store in Ibadan can easily attract a customer in Abuja with a WhatsApp link or mini-site.

Always open: Unlike a physical store, your digital presence sells for you 24/7.

The problem? Traditional website builders like Wix or Squarespace don’t always cater to the Nigerian context — payment integrations can be messy, subscriptions are dollar-priced, and setup feels intimidating.

This is exactly where Kurrent.app enters the scene.

What Exactly is Kurrent.app?

Kurrent.app is a mobile-first digital presence platform designed for Nigerians. It allows anyone — whether you’re a student side-hustler, a tailor, or a tech founder — to:

Build a mini-website in minutes.

Create a WhatsApp store where customers can browse products and order instantly.

Share a single smart link that combines your business profile, contact info, and social media.

All of this is offered for free, making it a groundbreaking first in Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.

How the Platform Works

1. Simple Setup

Forget hiring developers or watching endless YouTube tutorials. With Kurrent.app, you sign up, choose a template, and start customizing right from your phone.

2. One Link to Rule Them All

Every user gets a unique shareable link. This becomes your digital calling card — whether you’re networking at an event or dropping your details in a WhatsApp chat.

3. WhatsApp Store Integration

This is where it gets powerful. Nigerians already trust WhatsApp for personal and business communication. Kurrent.app makes it easy to:

> Upload products with photos and prices.
> Allow customers to order directly via WhatsApp.
> Manage conversations and transactions in real time.

For example, a caterer in Surulere can share her Kurrent link with menus, and clients can instantly place orders via WhatsApp without extra apps.

Why Kurrent.app Stands Out

Built for Nigeria: No confusing dollar pricing, no complex integrations. Everything is designed with the local entrepreneur in mind.

Mobile-first approach: Since most Nigerians access the internet on their phones, the platform works seamlessly on small screens.

Affordability: It’s free to start — no hidden costs. That removes the biggest barrier to entry.

Ease of use: Even if you’ve never touched a website builder before, you can create something beautiful within minutes.

Scalability: As your business grows, your Kurrent page grows with you — from a simple profile to a full WhatsApp storefront.

Real-Life Scenarios

The Fashion Designer in Lagos
Amaka sells Ankara outfits. With Kurrent.app, she creates a mini-site showing her designs, price list, and WhatsApp order button. Instead of waiting for Instagram DMs, her sales now flow directly through WhatsApp.

The Barber in Abuja
Chinedu uses Kurrent.app as his booking page. Customers can see his services, check his availability, and contact him directly — no need for expensive scheduling software.

The Hairstylist in Port Harcourt
Blessing wanted to showcase her bridal hair packages. With Kurrent.app, she built a sleek digital card in under 30 minutes and now shares it with potential clients at events.

These are not hypotheticals; they represent the everyday Nigerians who can immediately benefit from a free website and WhatsApp store builder.

The Bigger Picture: Nigeria’s Digital Economy

By lowering the barrier to entry, Kurrent.app could accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation. Consider these factors:

SMEs drive 96% of Nigeria’s businesses, yet many still lack an online presence.

WhatsApp dominates daily life, making it the perfect channel for commerce.

Youth unemployment remains high, so giving young Nigerians free tools to start digital side-hustles is critical.

Kurrent.app is not just a platform — it’s part of a bigger movement to make digital identity and e-commerce accessible to all.

Conclusion: The Future is Kurrent

The launch of Kurrent.app as Nigeria’s first free website and WhatsApp store builder signals a bold step toward democratizing digital presence. For the first time, small businesses, freelancers, and creatives can create professional online identities without cost being a barrier.

Nigeria has always been full of hustlers, innovators, and dreamers. Now, with platforms like Kurrent.app, more of them will finally have the tools to be seen, be trusted, and be connected in the digital age.

The future of Nigerian business is not just on the streets or in the markets — it’s also online. And Kurrent.app is making sure no one is left behind.

On of the bigger mistakes Nigerians start keep making is branding...

From the name I no say the project will not go far

And most of the time it is cause by stubborn CEO

Most people always feels because they have money money than the brand strategies they feel their views don't count

it a lie. Nothing is absolutely free on the Web. Stop misleading.

At one time i wanted to create a hosting website to host people's website for free, somehow free, although at the cost of adverts on the websites. But when i got the cost eventually, i respected myself and closed it down.

Years ago, Wapka tried this. It was fun and exciting and not completely free because they had one small advert at the footer.

After few years, they closed down. The cost was killing them. Years later, i reached out to one of their team, and i got to learn from their experiences as well. This was before Nairaland became a sensation.

We created exam websites to sell answers. We even created forums for sharing cheats codes etc. I believe that was how Nairaland started too. I still can remember Nairaland was nothing back then. I created my own Forum back then in 2011. In 2013 it was offline.

Some of the names back then were Donprosper and Co's. For downloads we had Wapking and Wapktrick. And the Sefan. It was a sweat time to learn coding back then. I didn't learn it for the money. No no no, i wasn't even thinking about money back then. I did it for the passion. I somehow just had the passion to create something online out of nothing and do what many people could not.

it was me and my childhood classmate Felix. We developed that obsession and would challenge each other the next day in school on our creation. I wanted to upload my entire Physics text book(Essential Physics) back then into a study website i created. But after writing for barely half a chapter, i gave up. It wasn't easy at all. Now things are a bit easier, someone could just snap the next book and the texts will be picked one by one into the website. It wasn't like that back then.

We came a long way with fancy tales and preposterous experiences. I can beat my chest now to say I do my job for the passion. Not for the money.

Why am i saying all these ?
Just to make it clear that many had this dreams and couldn't achieved it because of funding all lack of corporate characters. In America and some other countries, it was an achievement.

I can recreate any cms and website. I can recreate Shopify in a week. Writing the code from my head and a chilled bottle of coca cola by myself.

Good gesture. They will earn through adverts in just the same way the owners of Facebook are earning billions of dollars through adverts

What do you mean free? Does it come with free hosting and domain also? Or you just want to push this up so clients can come in. I don't see how a website is free.

Most Nigerians are bad people, that's why it's always hard to progress here unlike abroad, many posters above have not even checked out the site yet badmouthing it. It's just sickening.

The way dreams are been killed in this Nigeria due to lack of funding is alarming. Once out of resilience I took a 2. 5 million from a lender to fund a dream I felt was just right. I couldn't feed for months, lenders were on my neck day and night, It wasn't just worth it. What kids take to club to throw lavishly is want a struggling entrepreneur needs to keep his dream rolling. Nigeria is indeed a country.
