This is a lecturer in UNN this morning teaching students C++ on a white board with marker and no computer. Every student is expected to cram and pass the course. What do you all think about this ? https://x.com/winexviv/status/1963534792118419609?t=D13UFTtdUQSk3rjpN5QsKQ&s=19

Very normal in Nigeria. You can count the number of schools that have computer labs and even those with computer labs hardly allow students near it... |

What a sorry sight!, teaching a programming languagea with a white board and marker, insteqd of an interactive big screen which enables wholesome learning, increasing the capacity of more students to learn faster. When they graduate, they are still expected to compete globally!🙄 |

It takes a lot to be able to do this on a white marker board, it shows the guy is good even though this is disappointing to see . |

This would be very very frustrating. I haven't even cope with the computer, talk more of marker board. Even a full stop, comma, or even indentation can make the program not to run. This is ridiculous 😒 |

crestedaguiyi:How can you know if he's good if he's not running the code? How do you know the code is bug free? |

Suicideboy:That's a wrong assumption, CS degree is only fsucked when the owner of that degree is mentally lazy. CS degree has a lot to offer from AI, to Cyber security, cloud computing and a host of others global niche. Teaching such a low level language on a maker board? how do you debug and watch out for errors, how do you even read and understand the error messages when compiling? Well let's not conclude maybe they were on the theory phase, they might later shift to the practical session later on. |
