A former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, is determined to work for the defeat of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Tambuwal, a member of the opposition coalition described the plan to oust Tinubu’s government as a “national consensus”.

“I am fully involved in a process — democratically and lawfully — that will end, by the grace of God, in sending this government out of office,”

“With the help of God and Nigeria, we will send these people out of office,” the former speaker of the House of Representatives said, dismissing claims that the coalition is a pro-northern Nigeria agenda to remove President Tinubu come 2027.

“It is a national consensus. Is Peter Obi from Northern Nigeria? Is Aregbesola not from Osun State?” he said, arguing that “there should be a change of guards in Aso Rock through a constitutional democratic process on May 29th, 2027”.

Tambuwal accused the government of failing Nigerians in delivering the dividends of democracy to the citizens, downplaying the perceived power of incumbency by the Tinubu government.

It is a great pity this is what you see @present with the catastrophic APC government Nigeria is unfortunate to have under Tinubu today. Every indices of human, economic and development assessment is in an abysmal state under Tinubu, worst currency, passport, poverty/unemployment, inflation, cost of living /governance etc.

It’s a national commitment, across the West, North, South, and East, Nigerians are united.

No president in our history has unleashed this level of hunger, hardship, confusion, and deceit on the people all dressed up as 'economic reforms'. What we’ve gotten is propaganda instead of policy, and poverty instead of progress.

Having failed so woefully and so spectacularly, it’s no surprise that their latest trick is to guilt-trip Nigerians with lines like “let the South finish eight years” or “it’s the South’s turn.” But that playbook is dead on arrival. Even they know it won’t fly.

And Tinubu, of all people, has zero moral ground to preach about a “southern turn.” This is the same man who joined hands with political desperados and power-hungry buccaneers to sabotage Goodluck Jonathan a fellow southerner and deny the South an unbroken eight-year tenure.
