Chai! Teachers cutting grass is in line with the education agenda of the Governor. No wonder the governor wrote internal waec when he was over 40 years and still failed.

It has never been a crime or bad thing for students to clear grass, I also did that when I was in school. But for teachers to do that is wrong, stop supporting bad things or evil because of politics before it consume you one day

Sincerely education no be scam. So, because the circular said they should ensure clean school environment means they should carry cutlass. Hmmm, this must be a deliberate act to distort the message or politically motivated lies

Sensational headline.
The teachers and principal will supervise the tasks. It's nothing new in public schools.
I did a bit of it during my college days, though I hated it and would usually evade it by all means possible. It was done on the first week of resumption and every Thursdays from 12 noon if i can recall clearly.

Tinubu's government revealed a lot of things in Nigeria, so you read the entire memo and struggled to find the directive and didn't still see it?
It is you finding directives from this. Back in Secondary school (government) I now my Principal was responsible for clearing grass back then and a contractor was given the job to clear the grasses using tractor. I hope you also learnt that it isn't a Federal government thing but state government. The issues with Tinubu has done a lot of harm

Simply because they directed the principal executives to clear up the premises does not mean that they should do it themselves.

Good, they must cut it. Next time don't vote in an illiterate
The “LITERATE”, GODWIN OBASEKI actually INTRODUCED this useless policy and it was the norm while he was governor….

I PERSONALLY confronted the former SUBEB Chairman’s under Obaseki, pointing out my displeasure with the policy and why it should be reverted immediately……

…and I was told that “times have changed. The kids of today are not used to hard/manual work as most of them have house helps that does almost all their chores for them, and as such, I do not expect such kids to be cleaning classrooms or cutting grasses like it was in our time. I then suggested, govt should contract the cleaning out to paid labour and I was told it will be considered.

So if anything, it is this “illiterate” Okpebholo’s administration that is trying to correct this error aandd revert it.

You can ask and confirm this info from ANY EDO TEACHER

Please point me to where it is stated that Teachers should cut grasses.

I only read the part that says Excecutive Principal should take ownership. They could employ those who cut grasses because I know that there is usually a small Imprest Expense for stuff like this.
I also had similar thoughts until I read some parts of the memo and the implication of the wordings.
Voluntary Service and Discipline: meaning it's a free service, therefore no payment, since there is no payment, it's either the teachers get it done or they contribute personal fund to get it done, the discipline means the students will imbibe the culture of being responsible for their environment as a result of what they've seen their teachers do.
Picture Proof: There is no reason to send pictorial evidence if the teachers were not the one expected to do the cutting, and considering that the task is meant to be personally supervised by the principal, it means all teachers must be present for the task

So what's the crime in this? The school should be responsible in cleaning the school environments in preparation for resumption. They should stop using the students to cut grown up grasses when they should have employ people to do the cutting.
You guys should stop supporting rubbish. During our days in secondary school we the students used the first 2 days of resumption to clean up the school environment. How can you say teachers should be the ones doing it? What are you teaching the Students then?
Go to japan and see kids in kindergarten cleaning up their own toilets and school environment. They don't employ cleaners for that. They say it teaches the students cleanliness from a very young age and that's why Japanese are some of the most cleanest people in the world. They were thought that from a young age.
Do you know that in the world cup that was held In Russia Japanese players were the only ones that stayed back and cleaned up their locker rooms before departing and they received great commendation for that.
