So after being a pastor at the feet of Jesus Christ for 3 years and being put in charge of the entire ministry, Peter was not riding a private jet or living in a mansion.
Pastors of today have a long way to go.

Peter could not even afford simple thing of life despite being number one disciple of Jesus christ. But here in Nigeria, you will see a pastor because he can steal from church purse castigating a refered man of God for being poor.

The same Simon Peter was the man Jesus deemed wise to lead His church after His departure, hence despite being poor and pennyless, Jesus yet saw nothing wrong in appointing him as leader over His church.

Sadly if the same Simon Peter were here today, the spiritually bankrupt and blind prosperity preachers of our time, who use money and earthly treasures to measure and rate themselves, would mock him and label him a curse, failure, loser, non-entity, liability, because they were would think they're better than him because of his poverty and lack of money.

That's how one of them, Biodun Fatoyinbo, recently mocked a "Peter" of the previous generation, Ayo Babalola, because he was poor despite being "super annointed" according to him.

He thinks because of his earthly riches, and because he "dedicated 2 private jets in one day" etc., that he is better than an Ayo Babalola.

If you asked me though, I am 💯 certain that Ayo Babalola was richer than him and all the prosperity preachers combined.

Therefore I would choose an Ayo Babalola over them a million times, because I believe that the life of a man doesn't consist in the abundance of possessions he has, but in how rich he is towards God. Luke 12:15-21

Let's use common sense in comparison.
That said

Yes Peter was a poor man. Which was the reason Jesus never made the mistake of handing his mother over to his Peter. The ministry of Jesus wasn't a poor one, they had enough money that they needed a treasurer, poor man no dey get treasurer, small business no dey get accountant or how many 2by2 shops do you see with accountants?

My point is don't change what is in the bible to suit your story. It's actually a son, adding and removing from the bible is a sin

0 Pieces Of Gold/Silver: Peter's Life Savings After 3 Years Of Ministry With Jesus

Acts 3:6 (KJV)

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

Peter's entire life savings was 0 pieces of gold and silver after serving Jesus faithfully in ministry for 3 full years.

However unlike the mentality of many church leaders (prosperity preachers) which they inculcate into their members, being poor to that extent didn't make Peter feel downcast or ashamed of himself, instead his poverty was something he was unashamed of and even proudly exhibited in public to the lame man from birth who asked him for some alms, because being a true student of Jesus' teachings, he knew that his true value or worth didn't consist in having such material possessions but in having Jesus. Acts 3:2-5, Luke 12:15.

That's why he was able to give the lame man something more than what silver and gold or any amount of money could have given to him, even the ability to rise up and walk again.

And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength.
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

They were doing business Jesus categorically said he was going about his father's business, ministry is not a Sunday Sunday thing like some ministers who you never see during the week except on Sundays, the Kingdom business is full time work except you are a lay preacher.
About Jesus said what or not, Are you telling me that every thing you know in the bible was said by Jesus?

You should translate the intent of a text, not the words in it.

Christ was referring to being in his Father's work, responsibilities, duties and not the mercantile routine of business management.

Because the 12 ran away. Even Peter denied him because the mob were ready to kill all his disciples alongside . There was no other implied reason for that . Any "wealth" reason is another distortion of the bible

There weren't private jets during that age though, however when the life and orientation of Peter is compared to those of today's church leaders, the difference is telling.
