yes but gaudy?

gaudy = extravagantly bright or showy, typically so as to be tasteless.

tastelesshuh?

Thank God both men are from the same "tribe", if not we will not rest on Nairaland as the usual combatants would be out with their weapons and AI

I honestly don't think he threw a shade at Davido. Personally I think it is a honest submission. Where is the lie?

The Yoruba will say: Agbalagba to n se Langba Langba.

Coming from a divorcee. This dude is 67 year old for goodness sake. Eazi and Davido are in their 30s. Agbaya.

At what age will he leave internet trolling? How would colleagues, family members, neighbors read the nonsense he post online and still respect him?

I can see some people defending him saying "there's no shade"... You lack comprehension. Moreover, this Doyle dude is a well know internet troll.
You lack comprehension, read what he wrote again. This time slowly. He said in brief, we have two different personalities as Nigerians, if you want loud, we Dey, if you want quiet we Dey. We are amazing people, just try read am slowly.

This your comment shows lack of comprehension skill. This man simply states his observation without implying any preference but rather stating the obvious intricacies of the different wedding and inferring from it, what constitutes Nigeria and Nigerians. You don't have to be on internet to know about these two wedding events.

I'll prefer Davido wedding.

How can u spend so much money on a ceremony ( that u held in different places o) yet it wasn't as loud as the person who stayed in one place to celebrate his.

If u wanted it to be lowkey, then u should have spent less too. Far less.

The man obviously threw a shade.

Both weddings were for the gram.

But Davido wedding was louder and rightly so.

Its good to respect one's white bia bia and age.

If Davido sings now "papa Doyle na my gardener" people will say he is being disrespectful.

We can't all be the same in the way we run our things.

We all run our races.

We are different.

We are socialized differently.

Our circles are different.

Human behaviours are not quantified in the way we think. Our perceptions of reality varies.

Don't judge the fish based on its inability to climb trees. Don't judge the monkey on its inability to swim.

We all find our expressions differently. Its human psychology.

Old Papa, embrace all of them. They are your children. You too old for this divisiveness.

I don't want you being dragged. You are one of our theatre and film icons.

I don't see it as a shade though...

More like acknowledging/pointing out the uniqueness and diversity of the Nigerian people.

Personally I prefer eazy's style.

This Mr eazy needs to clear the air as to whether he is Nigerian or Ghanian. I saw some videos yesterday on YouTube and he was been referred to as a Ghanian.

I believe most people are confused as to his original and true nationality!

After reading this post and I have come to my own conclusion that the person that post this has issues with understanding the original comment made by Mr. Patrick Doyle.
I just wonder how we think in this country by creating problems were there's no problem.

Temi and Mr Eazi's wedding was classier yes, but that's mainly because it conformed more to European wedding standards driven by their culture.

Davido and Chioma's wedding was more confiormed to Yoruba wedding culture which is much more loud and brash.

To each his own! Not sure why it is really anyones business. The participants of both wedding surely had a good time.

Didn't Dangote, Otedola and Davido's logistics manager attend Davido's wedding in the US? This proves that Davido accomodates all and sundry and doesn't discriminate. As for the Otedola's, if they chose to invite only high profile guests, then that is their problem and typical of most wealthy people all over the globe. This is something that should never be celebrated, and coming from Patrick Doyle who is supposely a pastor, it is quite nauseating.

Personality differs and celebration is not a one-way thing

While some people like noisy celebration, some like it quiet but the most important is a lasting marriage regardless of how the wedding was conducted
You're so right on this. I love Davido's wedding and also love that of Eazi. They celebrated in their own styles and none is better than the other when it comes from personal view.

Doyle didn't throw any shade.

I guess "One was a gaudy carnival with a motley crowd comprising of the famous and infamous" has another interpretation that I'm unaware of.

Description is the word there, describing the event, both famous and people who aren’t famous were there. Carnival! It was a carnival, colorful and loud.

Read from an educated person perspective.
