DSS petitions Meta, demands deactivation of Sowore's Facebook account by fergie001(mod): 1:02pm On Sep 08, 2025
Lawless DSS, too idle and incompetent to secure Nigeria, where over 130 citizens were killed just yesterday, has now written to Facebook, begging them to delete content they find “offensive” to their equally idle, tired, and criminal Commander-in-Chief, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Again, I ask this of Nigerians, how long do you want to continue being held hostage by a tiny, wicked, inhumane band of rogues? #RevolutionNow

RE: MISLEADING INFORMATION AND WILLFUL INTENTION TO FURTHER AN IDEOLOGY CAPABLE OF SERIOUS HARM, INCITEMENT TO VIOLENCE, CYBER CRIME, HATE SPEECH TO DISCREDIT/DISPARAGE THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA AND CAUSE SERIOUS THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE AND URGENT BAN/DEACTIVATION OF A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT OWNED BY OMOYELE SOWORE THROUGH HIS FACEBOOK PAGE OMOYELE SOWORE AND HIS PERSONALISED LINK ON FACEBOOK http://www.facebook,com/OSowore OR ANY OTHER ACCOUNT MAINTAINED BY HIM.

We detected and monitored with dismay and consternation a widely circulated publication by Omoyele Sowore on his Facebook page “Omoyele Sowore on 26th August, 2025, disparaging and ridiculing the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The defamatory statement was personally directed at the Nigerian President and reads:

“This criminal @ official ABAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is NO MORE corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!”

The said post is still in circulation and has attracted widespread condemnation by majority of Nigerians, and is causing both online and offline tension across the country, thereby creating political tension and threatening the country’s national security. This is in addition to the disparaging effect the post has on the reputation of Mr. President and the country before the comity of nations.

The post under reference has crossed the boundaries of decency and acceptable behaviour, and the Government has frowned at this extremely dangerous and false privacy violation that manipulates and negatively impacts on the person of the President and the Country.

It is pertinent to bring to your knowledge that under the Nigerian Law, these quoted words constitute an offence punishable in Section 51 of the Criminal Code Act Cap.77 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, which prohibits publication of false information; Sections 19, 22 and 24 of the Cyber Crimes Act 2025 which prohibit and make it an offence to spread fake news or publish content that is deliberately misleading or deceptive, posting content that is rude, vulgar, offensive, or indecent, especially with the intent to embarrass or humiliate others, provoke ethnic, religious, or tribal hatred through online or offline statements; amounting to domestic terrorism. The Law also makes the offender and the medium through which the offence is perpetrated/propagated culpable and criminally liable too. The author and purveyor of the inflammatory online publication against Mr. President is very much aware that the publication is also prohibited by Section 2(3) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022 and other relevant Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is not in doubt that the words employed by Mr. Omoyele Sowore is misleading information, online harassment and abuse. It is also a willful
intention to further an ideology capable of serious harm, hate speech, cause disunity, discredit/disparage the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria within the Comity of Nations to damage the image of Nigeria and cause serious threat to national security of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is against the above highlighted backdrop that we make an immediate and urgent demand on your corporation, to *as a matter of its own policy*, immediately TAKE DOWN the post and its attendant shares.

This demand is unequivocal with its attendant consequence. Should you fail, neglect and refuse to comply with the command in this notice, the Federal Government will be compelled to take far-reaching, sweeping and across-the-board measures through our organization, whose mandate covers such criminal acts.

In the light of the above having been made official to you, 24 hours is sufficient enough to take necessary action.

Yours Faithfully,
Uwem Davies, fsi.

These Dss guys should continue making Sowore popular by the second. Instead of focusing on internal issues, they are busy attacking people with dissenting views.

Is DSS BAT? Did Sowore say anything against DSS? Assuming it's politics, has DSS now become a political platform?

Omo DSS is becoming useless to the nation!
Hide in a bush and curse a local government chairman or some random politically connected clown, and DSS would catch you!
But when it comes to bandits, DSS goes invisible

What has Sowore's sm got to do with dss? Misplace priority is disturbing this regime aswear instead of them to tackle insecurity in the con3 they're there chasing rat while the con3 is being ravage by herdsmen.

This is the state of Nigeria. While Boko Haram and other criminals kill our people in the North, and our economy suffocates us, the so-called Department of State Services (DSS) is busy writing letters to Facebook. Their priority isn't securing the nation or bringing murderers to justice, it's protecting their "Commander-in-Chief's" ego from "offensive" comments.

The same DSS that is "too idle and incompetent to secure Nigeria" is now a digital police force, begging a foreign company to do their dirty work. They are a disgrace to the uniform and a slap in the face to every Nigerian who has lost a loved one to insecurity.

How long will we accept this? How many more lives must be lost before we demand a government that serves the people, not itself? The DSS has shown its true colours. They are nothing but a political tool for a failed leadership. We must not continue to be silent.

You don't know DSS is the president personnel army? Many Nigerians are not exposed with government matters, they just come online and follow the trends
Re: DSS petitions Meta, demands deactivation of Sowore's Facebook account by Dogalmighty17: 1:24pm On Sep 08, 2025
DSS has been reduced to this? I thought competence and professionalism has returned to the service? Imagine the FBI writing Facebook to take down a post. This is utter stupidity of the highest order.

If the DSS believes what Sowore posted violated the law in anyway, it should have approached the courts first and sought justice. Facebook and twitter have internal control and censoring mechanisms where they on their own take down accounts that they deem harmful to societal balance and harmony. That agents of the Nigerian state have to approach these organisations with such an asinine request is laughable and brings the country to shame.

We expect better from the DSS.

The president say none should fight for him, why this time around
Re: DSS petitions Meta, demands deactivation of Sowore's Facebook account by kingthreat(m): 1:26pm On Sep 08, 2025
Can't DSS arrest him and stop him from using social media in detention? Making a public appeal letter like this by the Secret Service of a nation is quite belittling and rather makes Sowore more popular. They should have known better.

All the rubbish they did to Jonathan and escaped, they think they can continue with this current government .

Enjoy the APC government you brought on Nigeria

We wouldn’t meddle in their affairs

We have been at war since 2011 yet these guys have not been able to trace the sponsors of the carnages we are having up north that is slowly spreading. They are here picking on an individual that hasn't killed anyone yet they spare the big criminals behind the mayhem threatening to consume us all.
They seem more preoccupied with protecting the image of the criminals in the corridors of power than protecting the country from harm.

DSS did not say pim when over 100 souls were killed by bandits just this last week but trying to stiff the voice of reason of someone who has the courage to call the government out.
Re: DSS petitions Meta, demands deactivation of Sowore's Facebook account by segun18(m): 1:30pm On Sep 08, 2025
This DSS is now so useless and purposeless.Hundreds of Nigerians are being kidnapped, raped, abused and murdered daily and instead of them to concentrate on fishing out the evil people behind the daily shedding of innocent blood ,they are pursuing Sowore up and down.

What a waste of Energy and resources!

Lolz, the funny thing is always how this fellow gets thrown under the bus anytime he says anything against Obi. It seems APC/FG just dey get Sowore time after all these years. They usually ignore him like he doesn't exist—so embarrassing.
For those wondering, i guess it's because of the just functional cybersecurity laws in Nigeria. They want to worry Sowore small. Nothing much i think. He actually loves and lives for this type of trouble.
