I am immensely proud of Team Lagos for their outstanding performance at the 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, where they finished first on the medals table with a total of 110 medals; 52 gold medals 32 silver and 26 bronze.

Our young athletes, together with their coaches and the Lagos State Sports Commission, have made history and demonstrated the strength of Lagos in sports.

In the coming days, I look forward to hosting the team to celebrate this remarkable achievement.

The first edition of the National Youth Games was held in Abuja in 2013. Cross River State won that edition, Akwa Ibom came second and Delta State came third.

The second edition was held in Ilorin, Kwara State in 2016. Delta State won that edition, Ogun State came second and Kwara State came third.

Ilorin also hosted the 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 editions of the games (the Ministry of Sports had an agreement with the University of Ilorin).

Delta State won the 2017 edition, Akwa Ibom State came second and Ondo State came third.

Delta State also won the 2018 edition, Lagos State came second and Bayelsa and Ogun States came joint third.

Delta State won the 2019 edition, Lagos State came second and Bayelsa State came third.

Delta State won the 2021 edition, Lagos State came second and Edo State came third.

Asaba, Delta State hosted the 7th National Youth Games in 2023. Delta State won that edition, Lagos State came second and Edo State came third.

Asaba also hosted the 8th edition of the National Youth Games in 2024. Delta State won that edition (its 7th victory in a row), Lagos State came second and Edo State came third.

Lagos State won the 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State. Delta State came second and Edo State came third.

I was amongst the caterers last year....it was there i learnt athletes from the eastern states prefer eating their egusi with fufu rather than eba.

I think that is more widely consensually agreed as his legacy not this one

I thought they have already hosted this national youth games dis year which delta state won.
