If you do your research with whole heart and pure mind you will discover that Dantata of Kano (Dangote's Grandfather) was richer than Louis Ojukwu , it was his money that Dangote used to launch his own business career
True that.

Dantata who is Aliko Dangote's maternal grandfather is an Agalawa (of paternal Tuareg descent) was the richest man in the entire West Africa as of the time he died.

Frederick Forsyth CLEARLY stated in his non-fiction book on the Nigerian Civil War published in 1969 (I have a copy of the book entitled The Biafra Story), that Louise Ojukwu made his first million Pounds from the resale of the land he ORIGINALLY leased from the Yoruba indigenes of Iruland (Victoria Island)
NOW in Lagos State to the British Colonialists. Frederick Forsyth and Emeka Ojukwu we're very close friends so the information is VERY correct. The blessings from Yorubaland made Louise Ojukwu to become the first millionaire from his tribe many decades after the wealthy businessmen and financier, Candido DaRocha [born originally in Bahia Brazil of Ijesa-Yoruba paternal and maternal descent] became the FIRST EVER Nigerian to become a £ millionaire.

Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu’s estimated net worth at the time of his demise was clearly stated in my original post...
He was the richest post-independence Nigerian as documented by many credible Authors.
The only reason I made this post is to set the record straight and to debunk Reno Omokri lies.
Omokri has many handles on this forum and I won't be surprised if this handle is one of them
You said in your last post that Louis Ojukwu was worth billions in naira .

Note that the Nigerian currency at independence was the Nigerian Pounds and it was being traded on the international market at slightly lower than the British Pounds and worth almost double the value of the USD.

That would have made Louis Ojukwu a billionaire in dollars and even pounds going by your billions estimate of the man's wealth.

How is thus possible when Nigeria's entire GDP and gross earnings was not worth billions back then?

You see how you can't even craft a descent lie?

Even at that how come no one outside Nigeria and British colonial settings knew Louis Ojukwu as a billionaire?

Even Forbes did not recognise him as one .

I’ve got a free day, so I’ll keep educating you hopefully ignorance will leave you.

When you hear that something is an estimate, it means it won’t be an exact figure instead, it will fall within a range. Estimates are used when the exact value is unknown or when different sources give conflicting figures.

There are two main types of estimates:
1. Tight estimate =a small range.

2. Broad estimate =a large range.

In the case of Louis Ojukwu’s wealth, the $4 billion to $40 billion figure is clearly a broad estimate.

Next time I'll be taking fees

Dantata that you have overthrown and replaced with your Ojukwu, has a family dynasty today that has produced Africa's and world's riches Blackman.

Even Ibru family with the Ibru Group is worth billions today.

Show us Ojukwu's father's wealth today.

As dem dey talk : you can't hide money.

How did his wealth vanish with him after his death?

All we know is that as at when his son ojukwu was schooling at Oxford University UK (the most prestigious learning institution in the whole of Europe at the time and till this very day where all elite families from all over the world sent their wards to for education) . . .

Out of a 100% of people either studying, lecturing or in administration at the time, a handful of them had cars on campus (say 5%)

Out of that 5% of vehicle owners on campus, ojukwu was DRIVING A BRAND NEW ROLLS ROYCE FROM HIS FIRST YEAR , FIRST SEMESTER RESUMPTION DAY (remember that rolls Royce was a vehicle that the Queen of England herself was using at the time)

If Sir Louis was able to send his some to Oxford with a rolls Royce for mobility at that time among all other wealthy people in the world on the Oxford campus grounds . . My people I do not have any cause to believe he wasn't an AN EXTREME BILLIONAIRE pound for pound compared to our standards of today
Stop telling porkkies, Emeka Ojukwu drove a sports car at Oxford and not a roller.

In fact, if memory serves me correctly, he is shown in the car in one of Basil Davidson's 1984 series about Africa.
I will need to dust off an old tape and an a VHS player to provide evidence of that which I speak. grin

P.S - it is in the same series that Davidson inferred Ojukwu's entrance into the Nigerian Army - in defiance of his father - might have been as a result of him being swayed by the British Intelligence Service.

Reno is once again busy herding his flock of anti-Igbo goats and sheep who don't think for themselves or research any garbage that Reno dish out to them.

I stopped reading Reno’s tissue of lies the moment he claimed that Sir Louis Ojukwu was not a billionaire in his lifetime.

I usually don’t respond to Reno, but as always, when a lie goes unchallenged, it overshadows the truth.

Sir Louis Ojukwu once rejected the offer to become Nigeria’s Finance Minister. He was the only man in Africa to provide substantial support to Britain during World War II, a contribution that later earned him the title of Knight of the British Empire. This strategic investments during WWII (providing trucks and logistics to Britain) gave him direct access to colonial contracts and land holdings.

Louis Ojukwu's wealth was so vast that the Lagos State Government once seized many of his properties — it took the intervention of the Court of Appeal to order the return of some of them including the prized one on Queen’s Drive.

Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu:
Nigeria’s First Billionaire and Business Pioneer

Early Life & Education
Born in 1909 in Obiuno Umudim, Nnewi (present-day Anambra State), Ojukwu attended primary school in Asaba and advanced to the Hope Waddell Training Institute in Calabar .

He began his working life as a tyre sales clerk with John Holt in Lagos in 1929 .

Entrepreneurial Beginnings
Observing trade patterns among Igbo merchants who purchased textiles alongside tyres—he launched Ojukwu Stores in Onitsha.

In 1930, he acquired a used truck and founded the Ojukwu Transport Company, filling a critical gap in transportation for traders along the East–West axis .

Growing Empire & World War II Support
By World War II, his fleet had expanded impressively. He supplied his trucks to support British war efforts, earning him a KBE (Knight of the British Empire) .

Post-war economic expansion propelled his business further; by the 1950s, his transport enterprise boasted hundreds of trucks.

Diversification & Corporate Reach
He diversified across industries
Textiles, real estate, shipping, finance, and beyond. He founded Ojukwu Textiles and invested heavily in real estate .

Ojukwu also held key roles in several major institutions:

First President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange

President of the African Continental Bank

Director in corporations such as:
Shell Nigeria
Guinness Nigeria
Nigerian Coal Corporation
John Holt
Nigerian National Shipping Line
Nigerian Cement Factory, and many others.

Symbol of Prestige & Philanthropy
Owning the first Rolls-Royce in Nigeria, it was notable that his Silver Wraith was used to chauffeur Queen Elizabeth II during her 1956 visit .

He also dedicated himself to civic service.
He supported Nnamdi Azikiwe’s NCNC and was later offered the role of Finance Minister in 1960 but he declined.
He chaired development bodies like the Eastern Region Development Corporation .

Wealth, Demise
At his passing in 1966, Ojukwu's net worth was estimated at $4 billion to $40 billion in today’s terms, making him Nigeria’s first billionaire.

In the end, there was no need for me to go foraging through my archives.
My VHS player is in the loft, so I tool a different approach. cheesy

Do you see how Deepseek (one of China's AI Chatbots) covers a tiny aspect of Nigeria's political history here? grin

During his time at Oxford University in the 1950s, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was known for driving a distinctive and expensive car: a white Porsche 356 Cabriolet.

Here are some details that make this fact so notable:

· A Symbol of Status: The Porsche 356 was, and remains, a prestigious and high-performance sports car. Owning one, especially as a student in 1950s Britain, was a clear sign of immense wealth and a privileged background. Ojukwu's father, Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, was one of Nigeria's first billionaires, and this car reflected that status.

· Rarity and Attention: A white convertible Porsche would have been an extremely rare and eye-catching sight on the roads of Oxford at that time. It perfectly matched Ojukwu's profile as a charismatic, intelligent, and somewhat flamboyant figure.

· Contrast with Later Life: This image of a young man in a flashy sports car stands in stark contrast to the serious military and political leader he would later become as the officer who led the secession of Biafra. It highlights a different chapter of his life before he was thrust onto the center stage of history.

The white Porsche 356 is consistently cited in biographies, historical accounts, and interviews about his life, making it one of the most well-documented personal details of his early years.

Many students, including Wole Soyinka, were favourably disposed to Marxist ideas at the time.
In my view, there was nothing fundamentally wrong with such leanings.

I believe there are some silent billionaires in Nigeria today. Dangote might be recognized as the richest man in Africa, but I don't think he's the richest person in Nigeria. You can keep arguing about it till tomorrow if you like.

Nigeria is too rich to be limited to recognizing just one person as the richest. There are silent billionaires whose wealth is far beyond public knowledge. One man might be celebrated as Africa's richest man, but I don't believe he's the wealthiest in Nigeria.

Start by asking your dumbed down chatgpt about the Cambridge spy scandal and ask him to tell you who was at the centre of it.

Also ask your AI to tell you who headed MI6 and was a major adviser to the British govt.

FYI, the Russian revolution was orchestrated by western capitalist chews in London and New York.

Communist is ultra capitalism where the state is a corporation and you are all slaves doomed to labour for it.

If in doubt why do you think western capitalists all love China and have invested trillions in China's slave economy ?

As I said you are too lineal and your thought process is only good for checkers in this world of 5-D chess.

Kys already
Your real problem is that you are welded to too many half-baked conspiracy theories for your own good.
I have followed you here for a while. And, your intervention on virtually every subject follows the same farcical direction of travel. grin

Western capitalists invested trillions in China because they were interested in its market - fact!
What they could not have predicted, however, was that nation's fidelity to socialist ideas!

How has capitalism worked out for you and your co-travelers in Africa? Rentier-class, local compradors, Obasanjo's 100 billionaries in dollar terms and more? (yeah, I read 'Dancing on the brink' and shitz). cool

Nah me you want school about Marxism? Me wey dey inside trenches from long time.

Communism is ultra-capitalism to an untutored mind which does not understand it!

Do you even know the difference between socialism and communism? Do you understand that many of Africa's first set of progressive leaders would, rightly, have been regarded as socialist in orientation?

Which part of owning nothing and being happy as envisioned by the WEF that doesn't align with Communism and abolition of private property?

Schwabs even has a burst of Lenin in his office.

As I said you know nothing whatsoever .

The fact remains that communist ideology was drilled into the skulls of the likes of ojukwu and Achebe and the violent coup of Jan 15 was inspired by the violent Bolshevik coup in Russia.

And at the centre of all this was Baron Victor Rothschild whose own father bankrolled the communist overthrow of Tsarist Russia.

Old wealth is measured with present economic levels. Mansa Musa is said to be worth about 400 billion 'in today's dollars'. Dollar wasn't in existence in Mansa Musa's time but it is used to measure his wealth. Billion might not be existing in Sir Odumegwu's time but today's money worth can be used to measure his wealth.
I understand that, but the billion number was definitely existing. The truth is a billion is too much money. If you had it, everyone would know.

Also, Mansa Musa's wealth isn't his personal net worth, but his empire, it's like adding the net worth of a kingdom and its king together.

So NIgeria's first coup was inspired by the Bolshevik revolution, even though Africa had already witnessed five successful ones (Egypt, Sudan, Togo, Congo-Brazaville and Benin) by 1966? Do you see why I suggest that you expand your horizons a bit more?

Unable and unwilling to appraise our nation's political history objectively, why I am not surprised that you have defaulted to your usual reductive set of arguments?

Since it is not clear to you that it was the Western Region that was most conspicuously leaning leftwards (in the direction of socialism) after independence, and for good reason too, I am going to suggest you read 'Conakry Years' by Kwame Nkrumah.

Truth be told, my sensibilities are assaulted each time you respond in a manner that suggests Africans have no agency of their own.
With you, it is always "Rothschild, this"; "Zionist, that", as though our first generation of leaders - their imperfections notwithstanding - were blank slates with no minds of their own.

You have internalised so much racism and prejudice that you now peddle your own dogma as an article of faith.
