Olabimiji Enitan Jowosimi (@Legendaryjoe) is the Special Assistant on New Media to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Legendary J.O.E @LegendaryJoe

🚨 CLARIFICATION ON FAKE NEWS 🚨

Our attention has been drawn to some mischievous posts falsely claiming that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, condemned Nigeria’s borrowing. This is nothing but fake news and deliberate distortion.

For the record, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, never condemned borrowing. On the contrary, at the 11th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the West Africa Association of Public Accounts Committees (WAAPAC), where Speaker Abbas was duly represented by a PDP chieftain, MHR BABATUNDE SALAM, made it clear that:

✅ Public debt, if managed prudently, can be a tool for growth and prosperity.

✅ The legislature’s role is to ensure that every naira borrowed delivers tangible value to Nigerians.

✅ President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is already working assiduously to reduce reliance on borrowing through a robust non-oil revenue drive - proof of responsible fiscal management.

✅️ For the first time in decades, Nigeria has met its 2025 revenue target ahead of schedule, without reliance on borrowing. This is proof that with discipline, focus, and courage, we can reduce dependence on external loans and secure our economic sovereignty.

The Speaker’s call was not against borrowing, but for stronger oversight, transparency, and accountability so that debt translates into real development - roads, schools, hospitals, and innovation.

Let it be known: oversight of public debt is a constitutional duty and a moral responsibility of parliament. This is about safeguarding Nigeria’s financial future, not playing to the gallery of mischief-makers.

Fake news will not stand. The facts are clear, the Speaker’s position is consistent, and the message remains emphatic: responsible borrowing, prudent management, and a collective resolve for sustainable development.

The opposition, therefore, is best advised to explore other means of survival - for Speaker Abbas provides no ventilator for their gasping decline, and no cure for their terminal slide into political oblivion...

Good Evening Severally.

Damage control. Let Speaker Abass himself make the disclaimer. They also came out to make a disclaimer when Kashim Shettima spoke but we all heard what he said. That single statement by Shettima also put a pause on all talks about his replacement, at least for the main time. Speaker Abass will have to step down or be impeached if Tinubu decides to pick a VP candidate from the Northwest. He merely signalled that he won't go out without a fight.

They have started the front and back issue again. Masses are truly patient. I don't know why everyone is silent upon everything Tinubu is doing to make life hard for the masses. They will wake up one day. I pray it's not too late cos Tinubu won't back down until he tax the masses to their graves.

I’m not sure there’s ever been a government in this country that issues a statement only to turn around and contradict itself quite like this wicked and draconian Tinubu regime.

The level of denial, followed by counter-denial, is honestly record-breaking. If confusion were an Olympic sport, this administration would take gold.

This guy quoted me stating that a disclaimer would be issued within 24 hours.

In less that 24 hours, the statement was issued. I must commend you for understanding your country so well.

When you understand the kind of politics played in your country, trusting politicians becomes almost impossible.
