Savenigeria2023:
70k minimum wage per month is only 45USD for the employed and many states are yet to meet that

The rest are unemployed and available for crime. Dead End
This is apt.

See where IGR states dey grin

Tinubu naively took money from Nigerians in the name of subsidy removal and gave it to governors to loot
madridguy:
Our governors are the major threat we are facing. Tell me how on earth will Bayelsa with their fat allocation, low population will be second on the list...

Exactly..my dad have cocoa and other cash crop farms..his share after my grandpa died..my mom too also from her late dad...we the children managing both..it's going really smoothly cuz we are well learned
Exactly how it is for many Ondo State indigenes. Even my family has large farmland for cocoa farming and my aunt in charge of it has built a befitting house with it.

I don't believe this statistics.
How can Ondo be the least poor state in Nigeria, then there is Osun and Ekiti lower than Ogun.
This is a big lie.
The kind of poverty in Ekiti, Ondo and Osun is mind boogling
That’s because you are seeing the average cocoa farmers as poor when in reality a bag of cocoa cost about a million or so in the market now. In excess, they look poor to you because of their hustle. Almost everyone owns a cocoa farm in Ondo, even if you live abroad, they will still send you your share from the farm produce. Same with Ekiti. Osun is both farming and a gold house state so reason those 3 most times have the least poor people in the country.

Exactly. Cocoa prices have skyrocketed, ditto gold prices, which have doubled or even tripled. So, those folks won't be poor. Even the mere trading of beans or gold is enough to place a fiscally disciplined person in a middle-class position in Nigeria.

I see a lot of comments and people are surprised by the statistics...
Let's all think and tell ourselves the truth......since 1999 till date, is Nigeria actually on the part of true infrastructural development and are Nigerians enjoying the gains of a growing economy?
Can we compare Nigeria with Malaysia who came here years ago to collect our palm oil seedlings?
Can we compare and compete with them in terms of infrastructural development and economy?
Malaysia is one country I low key envy. Strong passport, not too dangerous, so much foriegn investment from richer nations, diversified economy from agric-businesses to semiconductors, all seaports are functioning, bustling cities with developed infrastructure etc.

Malaysia has been able to manage its ethnic, religious and racial differences pretty well, although not perfectly. We no try o. Our elites no try at all.

The elites are not the major issue.
Those who are at the bottom, the common man, gullible, sentimental and always emotional are the issue.
We have all taken to sides for different reasons that has no meaningful value to better ourselves properly.
We are comfortable with nonsense.

Even the food basket of the nation is sitting at number 12 with 75% (Distinction ) score.

This is not looking good at all. Nigeria has multi dimension poverty across the country.
If I may ask, what was the evaluation criteria?

Imo State should be much less than 40%

You have to look at the houses built in Ogun compared to Osun/Ondo/Ekiti, the companies, the purchasing power e.t.c
Comparing that, Ogun is obviously better than them.

What is Bayelsa doing in the second position of poorest? This is a case of a state that depicts what Nigeria is; a country blessed with enormous resources yet full of poor people.
Bayelsea is really a big mess. How can a state with low population of indigenous people still be in poverty, even in abundant. They are disgracing south south.

Well, the youths in those states have fled/ran to Lagos. grin

Everybody wan live for Lagos and experience city life. While this is good, especially in one's youth, many persons would be better off in their state of origins/villages. For instance, if not for insecurity, many people have no business in Abuja. People are inconveniencing themselves by living in places where they don't have the skills/capital to thrive and live comfortably. I saw a recent post about rents on Lagos mainland, and they were alarming. Skills to get a highly paid job or solid capital to run a business, else many people are living in squalid conditions, all in the name of "I must live in Lagos".

The companies in Ogun are as a result of its proximity with Lagos.

Stay there and be asking questions. Continue..
As if you do not know the resources of bayelsa is oil and that fgn collects the whole money. They say states are receiving more money, but what of devaluation? A state that received 10m few years ago is better than one receiving 50m today. A salary earner that brought home 140k in 2015 is better than one earning 1m monthly 2025.
The devaluation of the naira along with removal of subsidy automatically plunged 80%of Nigerians into poverty. Abi you no know say all of us poor? You poor I poor, thanks to apc and tinubu.
Make we all poor together in fellowship naa..
The political class are rich! The removal of subsidy and flotation of the currency are to their advantage. More money to them. Paris fund and FAAC come in dollars not Naira. They are receiving enough money that's why they are not complaining. Subsidy removal and floating of the currency are stealing from the poor and enrich the political class, whatever money they have reduce it to nothing (devaluation of Naira)
Re: Multi-dimensional Poverty Across States (see Full List) by doncartel: 4:16pm On Sep 10, 2025
That means if Bayelsa did not have oil, na like 99.99% poverty rate them go dey get.

They should not be like Iran which has as much oil as Saudi but because of hatred and lousy governance, cannot make anything out of it.
