This is ridiculous and annoying. In a country where Nigerians rarely feed well.

All the taxes and levies and increased IGR this same man implemented in Lagos state since 1999, go to Lagos and see if you can see the impact, roads are still deathtraps, smelly gutters, shanties here and there, poor drainage, bad roads in virtually all inner Lagos streets despite huge iGR. All they do is engage in white elephant projects like rail to enable them loot Lagos treasury in the name of projects.

Now he is replicating the same tax master blueprint he did in Lagos at the national level just to raise more money that he and his cronies will then steal and loot away with white elephant projects sad

Ask Tinubu what he has used the trillions he said he would save from removing petrol subsidy to do?

Ask Tinubu what he has used all the subsidies he removed from tertiary education tuition fees, electricity, etc to do?

Ask Tinubu what he has used our crude oil resources to do?

Yes this will increase government revenue but that's the only benefit; government will now have more money to steal. Even when crude oil sell at higher price, have Nigerian government ever used the excess to make life better for Nigerians? The answer is NO!

Someone that could not manage NGN1million can never manage NGN1billion, it's as simple as that.

By January 2026, his people supporting his directionless and inhumane policies will realize they were supporting nonsense angry
In one breath "all the money is not used for anything because because..." and in another breath "all the projects they do like rails is to syphone the monies again"

Hmmm...you will be alright!

If you like comment a million times on this thread, if you are in this country come 2026, you must get that ID and pay your tax!

Your obvious gaslighting won't work! No o...mbannu!!

Let's even assume Nigerians are ready to adopt this culture..

How much is the tax going to be

And would it be yearly or monthly for weekly ..

As for individuals, is their income range going to determine how much they paid for tax??

For easy adaption to the tax anything like monthly or weekly taxation would never work ..

How much an individual pays Should not be more than 100n .. Atleast 200,000,000 X 100 na 20 billion.. that is enough for a year..

Maybe business owners can pay more but individuals tax has to be really low depending on their income range ..

If all of these can be actualize, then tax paying would be normalize within Nigeria by Nigerians ..

Anything apart from this, na too dey keep money at home or make person fix all these make shift safe/vault for house with optimum security ..

Then banks would crumble..

It’s obvious most of the people commenting here are ignorant and unwilling to learn. What you’re insinuating has nothing to do with the tax reform bills. Get a copy of the bills, study them, and cure your ignorance instead of wailing unnecessarily, as usual.

Anybody that's wants to directly tax your bank account is an ARMED ROBBER.

Nigerians must get ready to resist this nonsense , despite taking stamp duty on all our transactions of over a decade and nothing to show for it , now they want to illegally extort and steal from you account
This might likely cause nation wide protests next year.

My question goes to Tax experts:

A human who lost his/ her means of livelihood (Job) long ago, is being supported by friends or Siblings with upkeep, pending his/ her reemployment into the mainstream (workforce). No job yet (with proof)

Would such cash gift fall under Taxable income?

Expect Opinion is needed as I believe so many unemployed people will fall under this category.

A wise person will go and register his business and obtain the TIN before time when enforcement will beginyou are a youth, paying taxes should not be your concern but the use of the revenue.how many countries still pays subsidies or don’t collect taxes in the world?.anyway there is no kid that will be happy if his father stops the stipends.
The monies they were using to pay subsidies were borrowed, stoping subsidies does not mean they will stop borrowing as some of you supposed.they can now borrow to provide infrastructures instead of doing give away in the name of subsidy.
All the 36 governors have testified to increased allocation, you should hold them responsible for not seeing corresponding increase in development.
I repeat the problem for Nigerians isn't paying Taxes but paying taxes only for it to be mismaged and looted by corrupt politicians who don't think they owe the citizens any accountability will be diabolical and create new consequences of shocking proportions.

Nigerian cannot pay taxes and INEC who is paid from our taxes riggs elections against sane taxes paying Nigerians to favour criminal politicians.

Local government councils can't take tax payers monies and go on shopping sprees and buying houses for girlfriends.

There has to be a equivalent responsibility and consequences of mismanagement of taxes by government to taxpayers.

a country that supposed to be providing for the citizen now wants to collect the little they have, just look at all the oil rich country in the middleeast and how they are fairing compared to nigeria.
There was a country.

Nigerians must come out en mass to demand good governance from these group of kleptomaniacs in government.

Why are our refineries not working? Why is the government demanding tax on PMS when our refineries are not working?

Why are these endless taxing systems on Nigerians, when we are not employed?

All government promises on creating a good environment for economic progress should be met before these taxes are imposed!

How much is minimum wage? Where are the Labour congress members to ensure things are done rightly?

You can’t tax a poor country to get a rich government! The arms of government have been hijacked and arm twisted to do the bidding of a few unscrupulous individuals.

This isn’t governance, this is sheer state capture!

These group of scavengers are eating away our national resources to fund their personal sexual escapades!

Thinubu increased income tax from 10 to 20 percent to 15 to 25 percent .

He also increased capital gain tax from 10% to the same rate as income tax (15% to 25%) or 30% for cooperate tax.

I don’t think this increase is a smart way to start . He could have just maintained the old rate and increase the tax net.

A lot of people will want to do all they can to beat the tax system because it looks as if you are working for the government for almost 3 months and the remaining 9 is for yourself. I can’t imagine giving a corrupt government without accountability 25% of my income especially because they do nothing for me. I fix my road , clear my gutter , provide security , provide electricity and water for myself.

Makes no sense whatsoever.

We already have NIN and BVN. That, can be used. In most of Europe their equivalent of NIN is what is used for everything from the day a child is born till he dies.
It's fixed, it's permanent and very dependable. That is what the Tax agencies use.

Saying that people can not operate already existing bank accounts without it is asking for a riot like what happened in Kenya.

It should be restricted to opening a new bank account. Otherwise, it's bye bye to cashless society.

Stop saying crypto in public, they will try to go after it, any knowledge you know pretend you don't know.

There is no effort to help people in the country, they just want to go after anything. We need security first to go to farms.

I remember when the tech people were saying fintech is gold grin grin grin, immediately the government went after it.
We have so much resources, why is government only interested in what uplifts people, they really want us to be miserable. Thank God for some of this fintech app, because the Nigerian banks are not reliable to do ordinary transactions.

Me i want to go to farm, i can't even go to farm. undecided undecided
