Gridlock As Flash Floods Take Over Lagos Roads by nlfpmod(mod): 10:20am On Sep 09, 2025
Motorists and residents across Lagos on Tuesday were trapped in heavy gridlock after several hours of early morning rainfall caused flash floods in major parts of the city.

The flooding brought commercial and other business activities to a halt, while several vehicles broke down on waterlogged roads, worsening the traffic situation.

Areas most affected included Lagos Island, Ikoyi, Alexander Way, Dolphin Estate, Lekki, and Obalende. Others were Funsho Williams Avenue (formerly Western Avenue), Ikorodu Road, Agege, Ikeja, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Maryland, Oworonshoki, Oshodi, Apapa, and Alimosho, among others.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) had earlier predicted widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

In its weather outlook released on Sunday, NiMet projected thunderstorms with moderate rainfall over parts of the northern and southern states, including Lagos.

The agency urged residents to take safety precautions, including avoiding driving during heavy rain, while also advising farmers not to apply fertilisers or pesticides just before rainfall to prevent nutrient loss.

Unarguably the most overrated state in the country.
Bad roads, flood, touts etc
Yet they boast a drug baron turned President has a blueprint for the state since he was Governor.
How come the so called Mega city is still in turmoil over 2decades after?
RIP Funsho Williams, may your killer die in Aso Rock!

Despite the huge IGR, humongous foreign loans Lagos state government borrows, most street roads in Lagos state are nothing but an eyesore. Most Lagos roads and streets have no proper drainage system so when it rains the whole state goes on flood lockdown.

For those that know Lagos, I will list some areas for you to go and check their road network. The areas below have zero street roads. Their street roads are eyesore, some were last paved during military regime yet Lagos state government collect revenue from every street in Lagos and still dont do the roads.

Surulere
Festac
Mushin
Oshodi
Mafoluku towards the local airport road
Ikeja GRA
Ikotun
Alaba area
Ojo
Inner Satelite town
Ajah
Abraham Adesanya area

This is a state with the highest IGR and biggest foreign loan borrower in Nigeria yet nothing works except the ones Federal government did for them.

The railway they are making noise about is built with massive foreign loans despite huge IGR and federal allocation.

Yet the same man want to replicate the same tax master taxation in Nigeria in the name of increasing revenue that will never be used for development but will be looted using sham projects that add no real value to the lives of Nigerians.

We will continue to talk and expose them and their failed regime angry

No be only master strategist, na master looter, born kleptomaniacs angry
