yarimo:Just imagine, so that they can keep diverting petroleum products to neighbouring countries as they used to do for subsidised products then. It can't work. Dangote know all these before importing a whole 4000trucks. It's a good development to deliver his products to filling stations directly in Nigeria. They all have trackers and drivers are his employees. NUPENG supposed to give kudos to Dangote. |

Fibonacci88:Except you work for law enforcement agency, you have a right to join any labour union, and the company has no power to stop it, and can't make you sign such document, as it is illegal. Also, it's illegal for any union to force people to join the union. People are still dragging NMA, NBA and ICAN in that regards |

Kukutente23:Also workers have equal rights not to unionize, dangote should tell tinibu to handle them the way he handle them B4, his refinery, his fuel, his tracks and finally his drivers |

tnerro1:Hmmmm. This is my biggest fear with these issues. The problem is not what NUPENG is doing right now but the next set of Dangotes (investors and business men) may vow to never engage in big projects and businesses in Nigeria. I don't know you as a person but, please, don't let this temporary issue force you to make a permanent decision not to be a part of investment drive in the Nigerian space when you get the opportunity. And I say this to others on nairaland too. It is well. |

You poeple are Devil not as if you are working to help the Drivers. Where were you when other private Sectors ,Banks and others mandated " no unionism in Nigeria" Don't worry leave Gangote to do whatever he likes with his workers as other private sectors did. It is a very difficult to expect Dangote to accept you to be in the control of his workers . |

amazonguru001:Talk about the Positive Side too Dangote is introducing a new model of efficiency and sustainability into Nigeria’s energy and logistics sector. His decision to channel distribution directly from his refinery to end-users is not just about control. it is also about cutting unnecessary middlemen costs, reducing fuel scarcity, and ensuring product availability at more stable prices. By importing 4,000 CNG-powered trucks, Dangote is investing heavily in cleaner energy, which will drastically cut down on carbon emissions compared to AGO (diesel) and PMS (petrol) trucks. This move aligns with global climate goals and contributes to a greener environment in Nigeria, reducing the nation’s dependency on imported fuel. The employment of new drivers, although it may displace some old ones, also creates fresh job opportunities and ensures a workforce that is trained to handle modern, more efficient, and eco-friendly vehicles. This enhances safety, improves delivery timelines, and boosts overall productivity in the logistics sector. On the union matter, Dangote may be seeking to avoid frequent industrial actions and disruptions that often paralyze businesses in Nigeria. By limiting union influence, he could be trying to maintain operational stability, uninterrupted supply chains, and investor confidence, which ultimately benefits the broader economy and ensures continuity in product delivery. In the long run, this approach could lead to cheaper transportation costs, lower product prices for consumers, a more sustainable environment, and a logistics model that attracts foreign investment into Nigeria’s economy. |

Alhaji should not mind them.If any worker says union is his problem. Let him sack the person immediately. Let him go create his own employment and do union .They want to use union to destroy his business. He should sack as many as possible. Thr are many people looking for the job |

Gotocourt:Very well said. They would never go on strike over the bad roads littered all over the country. Their problem is to force people to join their union. If I was Dangote, I would have instigated a new union for my workers. Call it 'Private Refineries Workers Union' - PRWU ![]() |

Kukutente23:Just know that government can delist any union and replace it with another one in as much as duplication of unions ain't allowed in labour laws. Nigeria has never had a tough labour minister in person of Comrade Sen Chris Ngige |

Lamasta:Coca-Cola and Nigerian Breweries are able to engage drivers to transport their products from the manufacturing plants to their distributors without Trade Unionists causing problems but Dangote can't be left alone to employ drivers to transport his products from his plants (Refinery) to the distributors (petrol stations) because it by-pass NUPENG middlemen ![]() |

Kingpele:NUPENG is a meddlesome interloper. Dangote only has a contract with the new drivers, NOT with NUPENG. Imagine that you just open a new restaurant and want ti hire ten sales girls to work for you ,then some old women in the neighbourhood come into the restaurant, claiming to be the union of food sellers and insisting that you can't operate unless these new 10 sales girls join their association otherwise, they would cripple all food businesses in the town |
