The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of an Egyptian citizen who was kidnapped in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan on Monday, September 8, 2025. The victim regained freedom within 24 hours of the abduction. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In a statement on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, explained that the operation was carried out without ransom.

He noted that the swift rescue followed the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, and involved coordinated efforts of officers from the 4 PMF Ibadan unit, operatives from the Intelligence and Tactical divisions, local vigilantes, and support from the Ogun State Police Command.

The joint team reportedly combed through forests and border communities linking Oyo and Ogun States before successfully locating the victim.

Police authorities said the individual is currently undergoing medical checks at the Police Hospital, Eleyele, and will soon be reunited with family members.

The Command appealed to residents to remain security-conscious and promptly report suspicious activities, assuring that protecting lives and keeping Oyo safe remain their primary mission.

What happened to the kidnappers? Were they killed, wounded or ran away?
Useless Police department.

You can say that again. Even the least Amotekun operative goes home with a minimum of 115K per month and their lives are even insured by the state government in case of deaths in the line of duty

I agree with you! But blatant corruption been exhibited by police on a daily basis is what is not acceptable! If everyone is corrupt, police should at least hold some standard and not institutionalised it!
There is no hope if the institution that should fight corruption are the one that operate by it!
