Appleyard:If someone had told me this five years ago, I would have objected, but not anymore after looking at the events in the Sahel countries. You say you are there for peacekeeping, but those countries have never known peace, but continuous strife. So, what are you peacekeeping? Where it gets worrisome is how come they thrive in mineral and now agro-rich areas. Most importantly, they are active where Chinese investors are buying goods and setting up factories. All of a sudden, one reads a terror attack in those areas. The terrorist surge in Kwara really got me thinking because it was Baruten LGA, at a time when Chinese companies ceased buying American soybeans (yes, they have actually ceased buying it as of today. One of the American soybeans representatives lamented on TikTok). I am keeping a close eye on Kastina and Angola, where Chinese investors/companies are investing >$250m in rice and soybeans farms. Next thing, we fit see terrorist attacks in those areas. Even the Benue attacks are worrisome because Chinese investors poured $10m into a cassava-to-ethanol facility there. In all these, I blame the elites and politicians of the affected areas. They must know who is behind these attacks. Apparently, Poland needed Dutch jets to shoot down the drones that entered its territory. So by the time the ballistic and cruise missiles start arriving, who will it call? The US air force? I expected that for a country that always goes cho cho cho and beats its chest at Russia, they should at least be able to handle small incidents like this themselves. Maybe they should tone down on the noise and actually invest into building an air force that can match their chest beating. Because a larger air force relying on the smaller Dutch air force to destroy eight slow flying drones is just odd. 7 Likes |
