The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised the new leadership of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), with former Senate President, Senator David Bonaventure Mark, emerging as National Chairman, News360 Nigeria reports.

INEC confirmed the change in the party’s particulars on its official website on Wednesday in Abuja, effectively ending months of leadership tussle within the ADC.

According to the commission, the newly approved National Working Committee will be headed by Senator Mark as National Chairman, while former Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has been listed as the National Secretary.

Other members include Dr Mani Ibrahim Ahmad as National Treasurer; Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary; and former Edo State governor, Prof. Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor, as National Legal Adviser.

The development is expected to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders expressing optimism about its renewed direction.

Also funds will be released for grassroot mobilisation and sensitisation. I must surely register and pick form for HoR in 2027..

Always watching the body movement of the govt and the courts to do what is right. Perhaps INEC can fight it anymore or now tired of it own charade and facade. The most useless government agency in Nigeria today. Not even the NPF but INEC.

Very good! There must be no shortage of opposition to the ruling party, let alone a deliberate attempt by democratic institutions to undermine the growth of democracy in the country.

What are they even afraid of? Do well and watch the people naturally tilting their support and votes for you. I hope the opposition will allow wisdom and justice prevail if they hope to make any headway.

I was hesitant but I'm beginning to think that both have seen the fierce agency of now, with this formal recognition. Hope the Obidient movement will see and understand the handwriting on the wall. We can only hope for the best and prepare for the worst 🙏

ADC must not take the importance of Rabiu Kwakwaso for granted. They must endeavor to lobby Kwakwaso to join ADC. They should lobby GEJ to join. However, they must carefully chose their flag bearers.
For the presidential, anyone outside HEPO is completely a waist of time and resources, and also a big setback.
