No wonder the Benin ore expressway was so dry around 7pm recently when i drove there, the road that used to bubble till midnight a few years back. We didnt see a single police on the road
The military checkpoint was visibly deserted. I'd never risk night travel by road in that axis again, until Nigeria gets better. Its worse than suicide mission.

Because those demons must make money.

If you don't have ransom money, they will kill the person and harvest their parts.

Nigeria's major roads needed to be patrolled by plain clothes police all the time to deter these criminals.

Insisted, police mount checkpoints on the roads. Checkpoints to deter criminals is an outdated formula

I am beginning to think that the Nigerians are just too stupid to remain a nation. How is it that no police formation in the country has drone units? They don't even have trained K-9 units that can pick up the scent of any of the victims and be on their trail.

The Nigerian police is a collection of the dumbest persons you'll find anywhere. No intelligence or intellect is brought to bear in their operations. Incompetence everywhere.
But they have the most expensive cracker biscuits on earth.....hahahahaha.... grin

Nigeria is really a failed state in a sane country a simple well coordinated aerial drone thorough search will definitely reveal the hideout of those kidnappers in that forest.

It starts by voting people who have ideas into office. In other climes leaders are voted in based on the superiority of their solutions to pressing national problems.

Here we vote based on geography, ethnicity and religious bias. So how do you expect them to deliver.

If we as a people elect a President based on the magnitude of potential deliverables definitely he will appoint security chiefs based on the same criteria, potential performance.

He will ask the military high command to call all the ranking generals, call the police command to call all the senior officers and ask them to present proposals on how to tackle the pressing issue of insecurity in Nigeria. And whoever presents the most viable and effective solution gets the top job.

But who is the IGP today, a past aide to the President a while ago. Who interviewed him for solutions to Nigeria's challenges, no one.

So what do you expect other than systemic degradation of the institutions of security.

For change to happen it has to start by the people moving away from sentiments in selecting leaders at all levels of authority.

I'm not personally surprised or appalled politicians have and display such character. I'm appalled that in a continent like Africa, that has been through all it's been through, there happens to be those of the ordinary people who attack themselves for the politicians.

It's a pity...

People thought that with Bola Tinubu the Lagos boy as President, activities like road kidnap and rearing cattle by wandering in the bushes and roads would be over.

See police looking confused....no drones atleast to go after them.

blairlady:
Calculating the time it takes for all passengers to come down, moving the passengers inside the forest yet not one security forces are on sight is really a cause for concern.
