Exactly, you can build walking into your lifestyle

As you age, you will start to drop running for your joints sake. I only run for Monday football and maybe once every other week. For cardio I mostly use calisthenics classes and football. When my schedule doesn't allow me to attend classes, I use the stairmaster which is the best equipment in the gym. In 10 minutes you will work your heart majorly without any joint pain associated with running. If my week is busy I will just do 30 mins stairmaster which is equivalent to climbing about 250 floors, 7 mins biceps, 7 mins triceps and I'm done for the day. That's 45 mins in and out. If I go through busy periods like budget setting period where I don't have time for 2 months, just 3 of these 30 min stairmaster a week will keep me in the exact same cardio fitness as if I was training fully 5 or 6 times a week and playing football regularly.
I no dey play ball since 2019 cos some people will want to play aggressive and I have seen regular guys ankle, leg, knee broken because of some excited young gun dey overzealous or tear ACL even bicycle sef I no dey do cos I don see fall and fractures

Yankee healthcare no be play to gather 500k medical bill because one 28yr old wan show strong head say he no go gree

I do walking because its the least risk exercise and I just find a walking trail or a field near me. Especially when the weather is not cold

I just find some audio stuff you want to learn plug earbuds and walk away or talk to friends at that time which makes it more enjoyable or less boring

I've heard oga Raumdeuter and nihilistj.nr say once you reach a certain age, you'll begin to add weight. I've reached that age and I'm still skinny.

Weight loss comes from net calorie deficit.

The more you eat, the more calories you gain.

The more you exercise (plus your basal metabolism) the more calories you lose.

The amount of weight you can lose comes from subtracting the latter from the former.

It works like a profit and loss table. Every bit of physical activity counts as calories and adds up in the loss column. Every bit of food you eat counts as calories adds up in the profit column.

The difference is that the food adds up easily to plenty calories and while the exercise does not add up to plenty calories easily.

Diet is more important in weight loss but exercise is not useless. Exercise also has other health benefits beyond weight loss.

That's exactly what befell many men, in trying to make nigeria take them more seriously, potbellies sprung up from nowhere! Also the urge to allay your madam's cheating fears will force you into eating food late at night for peace to reign etc etc as a matter of fact before most of the men in their mid 40s and beyond are rotund in shape grin there's a patient of mine whose husband has become a close friend, he saw his friend who was also in his 50s, fit and looking like Dwayne Johnson, the man collapsed and died of a heartattack na hin this my werey say if gym bro dey die of this kin thing then he needn't bother smh

But if your metabolism is too fast, you just have to wait till you cross 40 for your metabolism to slow down

Some few with extremely fast metabolism like my uncle, he crossed 60 and still can't gain weight. I'm the opposite, I average probably 1,500 calories per day, and still quite heavy, my body grabs any food I put into it. I fast 20 hours a day and eat 2 small meals between 5pm and 9pm.

A lot of movement will increase your metabolism, As you grow older maybe do more sedentary work you will not burn as much as you eat

Another hack which wont be healthy is to eat late at night. All these suggestions will end up diminishing your health.

When you are skinny, you have little problem with cholesterol, little with sleep apnea, heart attack, diabetes risk is reduced

If you see the amount of money people spend on all these weight related diseases you wont want to be fat

Eating late, sedentary life, means you store more calories than you burn.

One of my friends in Naija, around my age, went to same School he has a potbelly too, later thickness around the neck, next sleep apnea and the snoring was like a trailer

I am hearing that a side of his body is feeling numb which sounds to me like a stroke. When I spoke to him, I rake for am say bro how will it be when you should be enjoying all your years of working na him you wan begin treat stroke. whatever it will take lose that weight and belly and pity yourself and your kids. Abi you want them to dey carry you around when you are just mid 40s for stroke

Your case is not extreme. I went from 69kg to 81kg (my target weight) between May and November.

I did this by learning what my daily maintenance calories were (2700 calories) and then eating above it.

I bought a food scale and I’d measure how much rice I’d put in the pot or how much flour I’d put in the Pancake mix. I’d then use Myfitnesspal app to try to find the calorific value of the raw food and I’d eat like it was a chore. I don’t enjoy eating food. No matter how sweet the food is, my stomach would lock up after a few morsels and then i would force down food until i hit the goal. Then I’d go to gym so I don’t end up shapeless as a result of bulking

After hitting 81kg, i decided to go down to 78kg as I felt better and more athletic when i was lighter.

You can add weight even with high metabolism. Maybe your maintenance calories are higher than the figure i put. Chat GPT can help estimate your maintenance calories if you ask it nicely

Also during the weight gain phase, I avoided serious cardio. I stopped playing football and running until i hit my goal. But beware, once you add weight losing it would need you to do everything you did to gain weight but you would need to be even stricter. For example, i was not really measuring the quantity of oils and spices i use in my food and i got away with that when weight gaining. You won’t believe how many calories are in a spoonful of the oils we use to cook at home.

My bulk food of choice was pasta. 565 grams of spaghetti contained nearly 2000 calories. Pancakes were another food that would have you gaining weight because flour has mad calorific content

I attached an image of my food log when i was trying to gain weight. "Weizen Mehl" means "White Flour" in German

That was my weight in secondary school when I played football and basketball for the school and also ran 100m. Strong as an ox.
