I feel there are other reasons for rescinding his offer but I don't think they did solely because he is Nigerian.

A CTO role for a company that pays that much will come with some great wealth of experience and makes the story questionable.

Linkedin is the new Twitter where people make up stories just to trend. If there was any regulatory constraints regarding his nationality, how the hell did he end up getting the job in the first instance? Either the hiring manager goofed big time or the story was made up. It is also possible that the firm got a more qualified candidate and decided to come up with that silly excuse. Either way, that is a good way to tell the world that you are job hunting. Employers will start sending him job invites.

Those are some of my thoughts as well which I earlier posted right ABOVE. He'll definitely get a BETTER offer down the road as he now has some more career visibility.

There have been too many stories about this , hence people doubt their credibility.
I have had hundreds of rejection based on nationality but its usually on the first stage and no one had ever told me it is because of Nationality, rather they simply say they got a better fit.

I did a second interview today for a company in Texas and clearly told the HR I am from Nigeria, few minutes later after it, I was sent an email to proceed to the final stage.

It is very questionable for the role he said he got except you don't know who a CTO is. He doesnt have the experience for the position. I do not agree that our image is terrible in the corporate world as you find us everywhere and the major discrimination we face in the US for example is the same everyone faces which is visa sponsorship.

if he is in Nigeria seeking that job and position with a foreign company abroad then he should forget it especially if he CV doesn't have recommendations or experience from Top blue chip companies that can vouch for not just his competence but his credibility.

Where is he residing at president? He better relocates abroad or acquire citizenship of a foreign country.
We Nigerians have destroyed many things because of our bad attitude and lawlessness. Most most countries are wary of Nigerians, until we prove ourselves beyond any reasonable doubt, even though the suspicion may never go away.

With the figure he mentioned, it must be an American company, American companies will rather look for talent at home rather than give the role to a Nigerian from Nigeria.

The guy is not telling the truth. As an IT Manager, I have never worked with any CTO with less than 20-25 years experience. This guy just graduated in 2021 and won’t even land a Senior or Mid level position in the modern US IT space. Reason I detest social media because there are too many lies and misinformation flying around.
