The Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria has thrown it’s weight behind the call by the NBA President on the Arrested judges to proceed on leave of absence pending when they are given a clean bill of heath.

The Body met in Lagos today to endorse every action taken by the NBA President Abubakar Balarabe Mahmud SAN so far on the unfortunate incident.

The meeting was attended by the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice as well as the NBA President. Also in attendance was JK GADZAMA,SAN who met with Mahmoud for the first time since the later assumed office as the 28th President of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Lol The AG is seriously working for his money there is no big deal after all there are all members of the NBA who has already made their point.

BTW if they want the judges to be suspended they better advice the DSS to forward any imaginary evidence they have to the NJC other the honourable jurists will remain in office

The caption should be, Malami and his NBA friends he has bribed gathered in Lagos.

There was even an evidence Danladi Umar of CCT solicited for bribe thru his PA but this same Malami didn't ask Umar to step down cos he was favouring them. Till date, Umar is still CCT chair. Hypocrite

But everyone that stood by CCT Chairman to remain until proven guilty is now showing hyper hypocrisy because Saraki was assumed a common enemy then.

Bribery allegation and Mr. Danladi Umar, CCT Chairman’s Office.

The third leg of the web of alleged corruption is Danladi Yakubu Umar, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT. Information available to Sunday Vanguard suggests that, sometime last year, a retired Comptroller of Customs, Rasheed Owolabi Taiwo, who was standing trial before Umar, allegedly negotiated a deal either with Umar or somebody in his office. N10million was the amount said to have been agreed to. Taiwo, playing along, allegedly paid N1.8million into the account of the PA to Umar.

Now whether it was meant for Umar or the PA was conducting his own private racket, is still being investigated by the EFCC.

The Dark day in Nigeria Justice System where EFCC became A Court because of Political patronage

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) says its chairman, Danladi Umar, has been cleared of a N10m-bribe allegation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Ibrahim Alhassan, spokesman of the tribunal, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

He said that the EFCC sent a letter to the tribunal on Wednesday clearing the CCT chairman of the allegation.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has today conveyed a letter to the chairman Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Hon Danladi Yakubu Umar, exonerating him on the alleged N10 million bribe by one AbdulRashid Owolabi, in his petition to the commission,” Alhassan said.

“The letter was addressed to the secretary to government of the federation, captioned ‘RE: Investigation Report RE: N10million Bribery Allegation against the Chairman Code of Conduct Tribunal, Abuja.’ ‘With reference NO: EFCC/P/NHRU/688/V.30/99, dated 20th April, 2016.’

“The letter which was signed by Emmanuel Adegboyega Aremo, secretary to the commission reads: ‘Kindly recall our correspondence of 5th March, 2015, (reference EFCC/EC/SGF/03/56) with the above subject, please.”

‘‘We would like to reiterate the commission’s position in regard to this matter as earlier communicated to you and stated that the allegations levelled against Justice Umar were mere suspicions and consequently insufficient to successfully prosecute the offence.”

According Alhassan, “today’s clearance letter was second to the previous one sent on the March 5,2015 during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan through the office of the then secretary to the government of the federation Chief Pius Anyim.”

Yes, it shows favouritism hence the stupidity of EFCC as a stooge of political power players and nothing for justice nor anti-corruption war.

N11M FRAUD: REPS RECEIVE PETITION AGAINST CCT CHAIRMAN

Danladi Umar
N11m fraud: Reps receive petition against CCT Chairman

Pulse News Agency Local By NAN | 20:47 | 10.11.2015

He was equally accused of fictitious contract for the supply of office furniture and fittings in the sum of N11.4 million, among other allegations.

The House of Representatives, on Tuesday received a petition bordering on corruption allegations against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Mr Danladi Umar.

The petition was presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Army, Rep. Shawulu Kwewum (Taraba-PDP) on behalf of Anti-Corruption Network, a civil society organisation.

Submitting the document, Kwewum alleged that former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Mohammed Adoke, had recommended that two persons were to be arrested and investigated for alleged corruption.

He stated that in compliance with Adoke’s recommendation, one Ali Abdullahi was arrested and prosecuted but the other person, who is the current chairman of the CCT, was not.

"The petitioner is now seeking the house to wade into the matter with a view to seeing that the second person, Danladi is immediately arrested.

"He should be made to face the law in compliance with the recommendations of the former attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice,’’ he stated.

According to the petition, part of the allegations levelled against the CCT chairman, include misappropriation of N1 million for his wedding and misappropriation of N4.2 million for external light bulbs.

He was equally accused of fictitious contract for the supply of office furniture and fittings in the sum of N11.4 million, among other allegations.

The Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, directed that the petition be laid before the house.

Dogara ruled that the House Committe on Public Petition should take charge of the matter ‘’for further legislative action’’.

My post was meant to reconcile your accusation of him being a political stooge to the time frame stated in the article you quoted. The alleged fraud and the subsequent clean bill of health issued by the EFCC occurred in the last administration. Your assertion may be right and, if so, is an indictment on those in charge of state matters during that period.
At present, things have changed in EFCC. The case can be resurrected.

for heaven sake, what was NJC doing with petition against judge who issued perpetual order against arrest of Peter Odili? This is completely against the law. U don't need any evidence of financial to sanction such judge, yet they took no action him.

The clean bill of health was issued while the Saraki's counsels were questioning CCT Chairman's moral authority to sit in judgement against Saraki

Everyone seems to be seeing the light except for a particular set of disgruntled criminals who've chosen to deliberately remain blind for the rest of their miserable lives since Jogogoro's downfall at the polls.

May God continue to bless and strengthen Buhari.
