Middle men, maybe
Truck Union? I doubt

All Dangote has done is set a price that either other marketers must beat, or they join him.

There are other oil companies like Petrocam, Rain Oil, Shafa, that have a large fleet. Will they throw their trucks away, because Dangote is doing free delivery?

Let's see how it goes. Either way, NUPENG just added 4000 drivers to their strength. The Union dey stronger by the day.

Likely where his margins are. Since lagos will do far more volume than the other states

Maybe also hedging against Lagos traffic.

Hmm

These cng trucks are at least for now eliminating one of the most annoying issues logistics companies have - drivers stealing diesel or buying adulterated diesel on the road

This fight is not between dangote and unions - it is between dangote and other downstream companies.

A Total dealer pays Total for 45000 litres. Truck delivers from depot to station. Dealer is paying for the fuel and also for transport. Also absorbing loss of stolen product. Dangote is saying don't buy from Total depot - buy direct from me and you get free shipping.

As it is it is only independents that can key into this. You can't be a total branded partner and be buying direct from dangote.

Doesn't work that way

But independents likely do not have the cash for dangote cash and carry arrangements.

Your support for NUPENG is getting questionable. What exactly is the benefit of NUPENG to our economy?
I'm sure dangote is sensible enough to do something about this. Even if drivers will join any union, only few will join. No union is mandatory under the law.

Right now EVERYONE is selling at 865. I have bought at total, Mrs, ap, Mobil in the past week. All 865. Nnpc may be 860 but I doubt it.

And the independent is selling at 860 - though I think they are wayo. The day I bought from them I am not sure fuel left their pump.

Also the Mobil on 23 Rd that used to close at 7pm is now open to 9pm. I guess it is a side effect of subsidy removal. They are now actually competing for a diminished number of buyers
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:28am On Sep 12, 2025
If you've ever worked in a workplace that allows membership of labor unions, you will understand the enormous benefits that comes with belonging to a union. You will also understand that Dangote compelling his workers to sign an undertaking not to join any union is just his own way of oppressing them and making sure they don't demand some benefits that are supposed to be rightfully theirs in line with industry standards.

From my personal experience, I have seen how union help the staff to hold management up to their responsibility. I have seen a particular allowance go from N350k to 1.2m simply by union pressing management for a review in line with current economic realities. That is the kind of benefit those Dangote staff will be missing out on the moment Dangote is allowed to get away with compelling drivers to renounce affiliation with labor union of their choice.

There are independents selling for 845 and 850 in this Lagos. I bought from one of them last week Friday during the holiday and their fuel pump is no different from the normal NNPC and MRS own considering the where the fuel reached in the fuel guage.

If they're minding their business as you claim, they should stop disturbing dangote truck workers to join their union. Joining of unions is voluntary not mandatory. Of course in Nigeria, most people have no single regard for the constitution, I don't know if you're one of them.

You're typing out of your emotions.

The law mandates Dangote to join the Union. You should be telling him that, instead of thinking every Union is your enemy.

The Union is not dictating how much he sells his product. They are only going to hold him accountable to the welfare of his workers.

If he has nothing to fear, he should join. Oil and Gas companies that are smaller than him, are part of it.

No mind,Elder.

I worked for a company without Union. They owed us for 3 months straight. On the 3rd month, NLC picketed the company, forced them to have a Union, and we got paid the next day. The video is still on YouTube. TVC covered it.

I met a guy 2 weeks ago. He works for an Indian company that produces pen. They pay 2k a day......7am to 7pm.

Imagine people earning 48k a month, because there's no Union to fight for their rights.

This is exactly one of the good sides of unionism; it allows members ask questions and get answers from management without fear of intimidation or threat of sack.

Even when the management wants to sack staff for disciplinary issues, they will have to set up a disciplinary committee which will include members of management and members of the union who would give the concerned staff right to defend himself before jointly taking a decision.

In the event a company has to downsize by necessity, the union will hold management responsible to provide terminal benefits to them and not just sack them and leave them out in the cold with their last month salary.

I think Nigerians generally are used to being oppressed so they are willing to take anything thrown at them and even tell you that wants to protest to take same and be grateful you even have anything thrown at you.

Without union only oga at the top inner circle go dey enjoy any profit

They will be dashing them 'discretionary bonus' while everybody else go dey look like lookman.

Any company with union every 2 years salary will be renegotiated to match current realities

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has released its findings on the July 13th Air Peace incident, where a Boeing 737-500 overshot the runway at Port Harcourt International Airport, raising fresh concerns over airline safety standards in Nigeria.

The flight had departed Lagos with 96 passengers and seven crew members, and weather conditions at landing were reportedly clear, The Bureau News gathered. Investigators revealed the aircraft touched down almost three-quarters of the way into the 3,000-metre runway, leaving no room for safe deceleration. The plane eventually skidded onto the grass verge, but fortunately, all passengers disembarked without injury.

A disturbing discovery emerged during the investigation: both pilots tested positive for alcohol, while a flight attendant tested positive for cannabis. The Bureau described this as a serious breach of aviation discipline, professionalism, and safety culture.

Further analysis revealed that the first officer had recommended a go-around when it became clear that the approach was unstable. However, the 64-year-old captain, with over 10,000 flight hours, overruled him and insisted on landing. Aviation experts warn that such authority gaps in the cockpit are dangerous and can prevent critical safety decisions from being implemented.
Another reason not to fly Air peace; Imagine make pilot don manya while flying over 100 people shocked.

I'm sure a whole lot of people on board would've been screaming their lungs out and confessing their "sins" while the plane skidded off the runway thinking that would be the end. Then they find out all of that happened because Pilot drank earlier before take off.
