Diabetes is a silent killer... Although there's no treatment for it just like HIV, there's a pill-a-day for HIV while diabetes has combinations of drugs to take just to regulate your Sugar levels...
Diabetes and BP is more life-threatening than HIV currently...

Notwithstanding, always monitor your overall health..
We plan, but God is the master planner...
People die everyday... And there's more than a thousand ways to die...

The issue of "long life" is very subjective on a case by case basis.

One person without HIV may die of malaria, or of domestic or road accident.

The thing is that there are more than a million ways to die and HIV/AIDS is just one tiny bit of them.

People die from choking on their food.

One of the realest things in human existence is death, by whichever way it comes doesn't matter much.

You know what matters?

Making every second you have left count.

After all na people dey join army today, pass out from depot tomorrow, and die in battle the day after.

While others dey join, go different battles and tours, even get numerous near death experiences and still serve till retirement age, retire and live to reach 92 years.

That drug will make you so tired you will hate life sometimes. You can only get away with taking it if you are very young and full of energy

My Dad contracted HIV in the 90s, if he didn't open up to you, you won't know that he's a carrier because he lived very healthy.

He died last year but not from the disease but from something entire different.

Just be dedicated to your medication and take care of yourself

We're all living heathy with him in his house until his death, we're all negative.

There are sicknesses they're prone to despite taking the medicine. They're prone to some rashes diarrhea etc The medicine is big in size, taking medicine everyday isn't good as they put their liver to work. Most times they take several of those drugs. Let's not hope it runs out when needed.

If you're negative, will you want to marry your girlfriend if she tells you she's positive?

Let's not stigmatize them but then lieing about it won't help them either.

Nigerians do not have the funds to finance and manage HIV and make the pharmaceutical companies...

From day1 I knew HIV isn't that deadly as they've made us to believe. These people just wanna keep smiling to the bank.

I learnt that was how gonorrhea killed people many years ago, Africans even attributed it to spiritual attack. Today you can walk into a pharmacy and get drugs that would flush it outta your system within few days.

After they've achieved their aim they would make HIV drugs available to everybody like paracetamol.

Yes. People are now leaving more normal life than before. U will not even know at all. As we speak, u may be with 2 or 3 people living with HIV on medication and u will never even guess it. So the ARV is a solution. Just like COVID, TB, etc there are many dangerous diseases around that kills faster even with medications.

In my facility right now there are 5 people in clinical stage 3 and 4.

The issue with hiv/aids patient is ignorance they argue blindly like fools.

Tenovifir, lamivudine and Dolutegravir is very effective when taken properly,each day comes with time..If you are taking by 6am ,it means each day around 6am you must take it...if you change the time to 9pm that means everyday around 9pm U must take it...

If you keep changing the time ,then you should prepare for drug failure and resistance..

I have had pregnant patients,who are positive but her children are negative and husband is also negative,it is about knowledge...the women look very healthy...

Na poor and ignorant ones they look like skeleton.

While taking the medications there are issues that arises and can be taken care of medically...

That’s true. Especially in urban areas. Just that some people still lack proper understanding of the virus. I even heard a lady said we can contact HIV through kissing and she has a tattoo. I told her we could also get it from tattoo machines.

So my question, would you say he is living a normal life as opposed to someone with HIV?

Why should someone with HIV face more stigma than someone with a pack of drugs every night? Or someone with cancer?
Aren't they all relying on drugs to survive?
Why is one not facing stigma and the other is?

Good analogy/ question. The stigma about HIV is the moral component. Most people believe that it's mostly contacted through sexual immorality and that makes sufferers look bad. Like they deserve their luck and so people generally don't want to associate with them. Also some people think it's contagious. Also that it yet doesn't have a cure so the fears are there, real or not.
Not completely true though. Even if it were, who is anyone to judge? Some of us led worse lives but didn't contact it. Just God's mercies I think.

The pills give some patients issues they never had prior to contracting the disease, organ issues kidneys, liver, heart, and even weight gain, obviously abnormal fat lodgement etc, it is pertinent to understand that the damage the disease itself can cause even before death occurs far outweighs what complications the pills to tackle the virus come with, those who already have the disease either by carelessness or bad luck must go for the pills but not expect a totally smooth ride, it is best to be very careful, one FAITHFUL sexual partner (avoid sex workers), proper examination before BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS, own and make personal all SHARP OBJECTS used.
