Just like Nassarawa, there's a northern conspiracy in Kogi that'll make it difficult for a non-muslim to emerge governor of those two states despite the two state beign predominantly Christian states. Taraba excaped that fate because they got it right from the beginning in 1999.

Onoja is not wise if he actually believed that Bello will truly make him gov. Onoja already show clear desperation and Bello is too smart not to see that.

One can bet that TYD invested heavily in that outcome. It will be interesting to see what happens when he is gone.

You're right; Theophilus Danjuma's influence in Taraba has been solid strong.

Simply put: Onoja doesn't have any political momentum to contest an election.
Bello most likely told more than 20 people that they'll succeed him. That's the way politics is.
Same with Abia in the twilight of T.A Orji's administration. Otti was the financial fraud conduit. Naturally, he expected his loyalty would be rewarded. Uche Ogah was everywhere doing empowerments and projects in the name of govt. At the end, Ikpeazu was chosen. Uche Ogah even won the PDP primaries and Ochendo nullified it and declared Ikpeazu winner.

In Nigeria's political history, has any governor willingly allowed the deputy governor to become the successor?
Yes. Kwankaso made Ganduje who was his deputy the governor after him though they later fell out. David Umahi was a deputy governor and became a governor after.

To think that Bello got his first Governorship office without even being on the ballot papers is one of the wonders of Nigeria.

The running mate of the flagbearer who was on the ballot was not even allowed to come near them
constitutionally if the election is not concluded and a candidate died or disqualified the party will present the person that came second in the primaries election , if the election is concluded and the candidate died or disqualified the deputy will take over. In Niger state 2007 the election was not concluded the candidate of PDP was disqualified the second candidate decamp to anpp and third decamp to AC . So in the events of no second and third in the party. The party shall just nominate someone without any primary election again and that is how the former governor of Niger state babangida aliyu became governor. In bayelsa state election was not concluded when Jonathan was pick as vice president and the candidate that came second in beyelsa state PDP primary election took over that is timi Sylva , in 1999 ATIKU won adamawa state governornship and ATIKU was later nominated as vice president, his deputy boni haruna took over why ? Because election has already been concluded . In kogi state the election was still ongoing so if anything happens to any candidate the second runner who is still in the party will take over . That's the position of law

Your experiences with GYB is nothing strange in Nigeria political culture where incumbent governor's annoint thier successors for very obvious reasons for not wanting to be exposed and betrayed by successors, and looking back you will notice that GYB got it perfectly right in choosing the current governor who turned out to be loyal, infact look around the whole Nigerian old governors and their successors relationships and you will agree that is a smart ass, again Ododos calmness, humility, competencies and sense of gratefulness has really eandeared him to all and sundry, he is going to win his second term easily InshaAllah
In all you wrote, you said nothing about good governance or the people benefiting his good leadership. It’s all about Oga and boy relationship at the detriment of the people.

Rotimi was wrongly excluded from the primaries. He fought through the courts and won. He had a ground in law.

Your Ya ya ya Bello wasn't wrongly excluded. He materialized from nowhere through the instrumentation of APC wuruwuru

If you sell your brother, even the buyer will never trust you. How will FGYB trust Onoja after all he did to clinch to to power? It's only a deluded person that will trust such a power drunk individual. Bello is way smarter and I envy his courage and decision in bringing Ododo to govern Kogi.
