phemray:Chai you are not a sincere person. How did people protest the subsidy removal under Tinubu and compare it with occupy Nigeria in 2012 that was sponsored by Tinubu against Jonathan considering that Arab spring happened a year earlier and the effect were still being felt in the middle east. |

Believeintruth:Protest is protest it depends on how the c- in- c is able to handle it. Jonathan even agreed on TV that he didn't consult well then. |

phemray:Guy are you for real? At the time of the protest we had Greece that was boiling and the middle east that was already on fire following Arab spring. Did you think GEJ would allow it, already at that time Tinubu was referencing the Arab spring that was why it was called Occupy Nigeria protest then. Why are they now suddenly scared and sensitising people against having a Nepal situation in Nigeria when they wanted an Arab spring in Nigerian then? |

seunmsg:He also said removing the subsidy in 2012 would have saved the economy and we would not be where we are today. But Bola Tinubu orchestrated the protests that blocked the removal then, saying there was nothing like subsidy. |

seunmsg:The same subsidy that Tinubu resisted in 2012? Now that he has completed removed it, can we know what the money is being used for? |

jmoore:Bro, only losers and weak men live and drown in their losses in the past to then fail to move beyond them. Tinubu protested against fuel subsidy removal under GEJ with the insistence palliatives should be in place before Jonathan went ahead. Progressive people, as your sort are obsessed with doing, won't belabour the fact that Tinubu, a politician who wants power for his camp as all politicians fundamentally desire and got into politics for, commited himself to highlighting the failings of GEJ so his opposition Party can remove PDP and lead Nigeria. Nothing Personal because wise and successful men know the rule of "don't hate the player, hate the game". It is no different to the battle between BMW and Mercede or USA and China. Barcelona and Madrid. Etc. No bitching or complaining. Winner takes all. That is how it is worldwide. Keir Stammer,Trump and other leaders worldwide are feeling that obsession of the opposition to discredit them currently. It is only in Nigeria, because of people like you, the polity see opposition politics as "betrayal" etc. Same way your forefathers irresponsibly caused a civil war, when war is battle to the death till winner emerge , yet you blame Yorubas for your loss and fatalities till today rather than accept your irresponsible grandfathers led you into war they were not ready to accept the consequences of. Proper, progressive, brave and upright men accept it when others better them. They don't complain and bitch forever. Rather, they learn lessons to perhaps win a rematch. It is for GEJ, if a truly talent and natural leader in the mould of Awolowo and Nkrumah etal, to lead with bravery, resolve and strategic intelligence,as Tinubu is doing today, so he can dominate his enemies and opposition. You see Yorubas crying , daily and everywhere, that you Igbos and North are ganging up against Tinubu and deliberately tainting his Presidency in negativity? No. That is because we know you have to do your thing while confident Tinubu is talented enough to conquer his enemies. If you, his haters, succeed to remove him from power, which is impossible in my opinion, you will never see Yorubas crying forever as you lot do over GEJ who left office 10 years ago. Unlike you guys, pragmatically intelligent and critical-thinking Yorubas will move on quickly because emotional intelligence allows us to understand the nature of politics Unlike you hypocritical lot whose preference is seeing "betrayal" instead of understanding, if progressive winners, that GEJ was an accidental leader placed far above his station and capacity. If Tinubu loses in 2027, Yorubas will learn lessons, change strategy, and move on. 💯 % predictable and assured behaviour of a progressive people with the view "forward always , backwards never". Tinubu is not a accidental and "lucky" leader like Goodluck Jonathan. PBAT, even as you people will never admit it, was born to do what he is doing as Alli was born to be a supreme and exemplary boxer and as Messi/Pele/Ronaldo etal were gifted to be some of the greatest footballers ever. |

True, the solution to Nigerians bad leadership is learning more collaboration and cooperation from neighbor countries in West Africa. |

phemray:Your last sentence shows how truly hypocritical you APC lots are. The point is why did Tinubu support its removal while he was in the opposition and implemented its removal when he came into government? |

MemphitzDgreat1:Bcoz he was bold and courageous. In 2012, Nigeria was servicing its debt with 42% of its revenue. However, in 2023 when Tinubu came, Nigeria was spending 97% of its revenue to service Debt and its now left with 3% to run its activities. So Tinubu felt it was not acceptable and subsidy had to be removed. Don't forget that Buhari had been printing money every month to pay salaries and meet up with other runnings of the country. So, Tinubu felt it was time to belt the cat. |

okpouman:Is Yahaya Bello and Beta Edu, Hell Rufai son not youths? The issue is that we Nigerians glamourise assets and wealth as a measure of life achievement. Until we emphasized materialism , the present and coming generation can never make a difference. |

phemray:, you ran to the streets in 2012, shouting no to subsidy removal because of the two plates of ewedu and Amala soup bought by Tinubu, Tunde Bakare, Soyinka and co when a liter of fuel was N97. Now you have no strength to hit any street now that a liter of fuel has gone to N900! If Jonathan and Obi can't be leaders l wonder were you would place the late Buhari whom you all supported twice! |

Amarachieze:You're correct, subsidy on its own was not really the problem infact it's still remain the only thing every ordinary citizens benefited from the government but the corruption and fraudulent practices during subsidy regime couple with unpatriotic acts of many Nigerians in collaborations with our border securities too who chooses to smuggled out the already subsidized products out of the country to the neighboring countries. |
| Re: Sanusi: Nigeria Has Been Unfortunate With Lousy Leaders For Long by Guestmale: 7:17am On Sep 15, 2025 |
Sundaymessi:The protest against the subsidies removal at time could be justified because Nigeria was making a lot of money but Nigerians couldn't see what was being used for. Dasuki gates and Diziane comes to mind Dasukigate refers to a massive financial scandal involving the alleged embezzlement of $2 billion meant for arms procurement to fight Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria during the Goodluck Jonathan administration. The scandal centers around Colonel Sambo Dasuki, who served as Nigeria's National Security Adviser (NSA) from 2012 to 2015. Alison-Madueke petroleum resources minister during former president Goodluck regime faces allegations of corruption and financial misconduct, including accusations of diverting billions of dollars and money laundering. She's currently residing in the UK, where she's facing charges related to bribery and corruption. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria is collaborating with UK prosecutors on her case |
