2027: Obidient Movement Denies Begging Jonathan To Step Down For Peter Obi by mohbadliveson(op): 7:12am On Sep 15, 2025
The Obidient Movement has denied reports that it begged former President Goodluck Jonathan to step down his rumoured presidential ambition for Mr. Peter Obi, instead of contesting against him in the 2027 presidential election.

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr Yunusa Tanko in a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Sunday said it only asked Jonathan to reciprocate the good gestures made by Obi who stood by him when the opposition were trying to oust him from office in 2015.

According to Tanko, Peter Obi stood by Jonathan when the opposition tried to oust him from office in 2015.

It said that was why the movement also asked Jonathan to repay Obi’s good deeds by supporting him in the 2027 presidential election.

“That is false. We never asked former president Jonathan to step down for Peter Obi. It was a wrong message by that reporter”.

“What transpired was that they sought my reaction on the visit by Peter Obi to former president Goodluck Jonathan. I said yes, they have a longstanding relationship. That even when Jonathan was about being removed by the likes of Rotimi Amaechi who said it publicly that they were the ones who worked hard to removed Jonathan from office, it was only Peter Obi who stood up for him.

“Obi stood by Jonathan then and he never worked with the opposition to remove him from office.

“I said that now that Peter Obi is seeking to become the president of Nigeria, it is only reciprocal for Jonathan to support Peter Obi. I never the word ‘beg’ or ‘step down’.

“So, we did not beg former president Jonathan to step down for Peter Obi. We only appealed to him to reciprocate Peter Obi’s good gestures as we head towards the 2027 presidential election”.

We already know those responsible for spreading lies, falsehoods, and propaganda, they are the Agbadóos, supporters of this calâmitous, identity-thîéving, certificate-fórging regime.

Their stock-in-trade? Lies, spin, and a bottomless well of propaganda

Anyone that want to rule should rule, Jonathan might be good leader but too weak on decision making , he should have stand on his ground when he knew he was right and not letting the man who painted him black and condemn his decision then came later to become president only to commence with same decision in his first day in office ..APC evil really do this one, the party that will be meet foods at #200 naira, inflated to #1000 and bring it down to #800 and claimed it has reduced

If the 2027 election becomes a 5-horse race between Tinubu, Jonathan, Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso, the election will likely go into a run-off. Tinubu's pathway to re-election is getting dimmer by the day.

If Peter Obi contests 1000000000000000 times against Tinubu, BAT will win 💯 of the time.

Ask Ogbonaya Onu who was crying over his 1 vote at APC Primaries.

Learn to respect your elders cheesy

Lmaoooo... These clueless people again. I said when the news broke that they don't know what they are doing. Now you are trying to walk it back. Again, you committed another blunder. What Tanko said above is exactly what he said before. In simple English, GEJ should bury his ambition and support Obi, meanwhile, na just talking stage dem dey.

Imagine trying to form alliance with someone for a business bid. The two of you are currently discussing the possibility of pooling resources together to submit a bid. Next thing, your partner say you should take a back seat, that he should support you with his own resources because you are better than him. No be madness be that?

E don backfire, now they are explaining without evidence.

I don't know the useless support he's talking about. GEJ was eventually ousted; so because Obi fake showed moral support then, GEJ shouldn't contest in 2027. Omo! I no fit laugh abeg cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

EponObi:
These people can't be serious. Everyone should bury their ambition for your incompetent principal, abi?

Now, they are setting up GEJ for drags and bullying.

Lmaoooo. Amateurs.

The two of you are discussing strategies on a united front in 2027 but you on the other hand is saying in the public that the other side should bury their ambition. 😂😂😂 You are already burning the bridge before the construction even started. It's unbelievable this guy was a two term governor. Na soso political blunders everyday.

You ran away from PDP to LP for automatic ticket.

You ran from contesting the ADC ticket against Atiku. Una say "It him or nothing"

Discussion with GEJ never take off, una say "step down for him"

What a unique way to say he has no gut, tact, or grit. But you want him to become president. Jokers.

Kuku tell INEC not to conduct any election and just declare him the president because he's the only Nigerian alive that can recuse the country from imaginary bondage.

So obi stood by Jonathan in 2015 when opposition wanted to oust him and Jonathan still lose the election?

What exactly do they want Jonathan to reciprocate?

Undisputed for your house. You think if Obi and GEJ contest in a free and fair election you think the real voters will vote Obi Abi.
You don't know that the sentiment of how people's life were 12 years ago will play in their mind.
You think people whose lives and family were better then would not vote him.
Enter market place and go and ask people GEJ or Obi who them go prefer.
Don't just do that in the South S because you know the result already except Igbo's here.

Though Tinubu lost those two voting areas according to you, but he is still your president, and he will still be in 2027.

So what are and your candidate going to do about it?

Can you please provide the relevant part of our constitution that talks about run-off elections and the process.
Section 134 (2) to (5) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). A run-off will happen if none of the candidates win two-thirds of the states on the first ballot. It will take place between two candidates; (1) The candidate with the highest number of the votes cast and (2) The candidate that won in the highest number of states (not necessarily the second highest number of votes cast).
