One Passenger Killed, Nine Injured In Lagos-ibadan Expressway Accident by cityboylagos(op): 6:17am On Sep 15, 2025
A tragic road accident has claimed the life of one passenger and left nine others severely injured along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

How the Accident Happened
According to a statement released on Sunday by the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Route Commander Oluwadamilola Jayeola, the incident occurred at about 6:55 a.m. on Saturday in the inward New Garage axis of the busy highway.

The crash involved:

A white Iveco truck (registration number MEK 34 XC)

A white Toyota commercial bus (registration number ENU 814 XJ)

Preliminary investigations revealed that speeding and road obstruction were the main causes of the crash.
Casualties and Rescue Efforts

Jayeola confirmed that:

One male passenger sadly lost his life in the crash

Nine others (eight males and one female) sustained varying degrees of injuries

No passenger escaped unhurt

The FRSC rescue team arrived within minutes, evacuating the injured victims to:

Emergency Centre, Ojota

Gbagada General Hospital

Meanwhile, the deceased was taken to Real Divine Hospital Mortuary, Ibafo.

Traffic Restored, Investigation Ongoing

The accident initially caused obstruction on the expressway, but officials quickly cleared the vehicles to restore normal traffic flow.

The MTD Police, Ojodu Abiodun Division, have now taken custody of the involved vehicles, while further investigations continue.

Road Safety Reminder

The FRSC once again appealed to motorists to avoid speeding and reckless driving, especially on high-risk highways like the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which has recorded multiple fatal crashes in recent years.

That last stretch from mowe to Lagos is one of the most dangerous highways in the country with the kinds of speed drivers pull up there......I don't know whether it's the euphoria of getting close to destination or final fatigue induced adrenaline rush after long periods of driving from different destinations......drivers really need to take things easy.

The road is very good now .
So what now causes accident when a road is well tared and paved?
Reckless driving .
I ply this road three times every week and If you see way people overtake , follow one way with speed , driving commercial buses with no side mirrors and gunny enough FRSC dey that road and allow rickety busses to ply the road with no headlight or side mirrors

You are right, the APC government shouldn't have made the road very smooth, the money should have been used to establish baby factories and fake drugs production shops, a large fams to cultivate Indian and Mexican hemps for exporting. I am sorry for you.
