The Irony Of Tinubu And Goodluck Jonathan by gidgiddy(op): 2:54pm On Sep 14, 2025
In 2014, Tinubu publicly told President Goodluck Jonathan to resign over insecurity in the North East with Boko haram

Today, ten years later, Tinubu is now President and there is insecurity not only in the North East, but in the North West, North Central and South East

But Tinubu is giving himself high marks and warming up to seek a second term

Isn't life sweet? What an irony.

We are patiently waiting to understand why it is so.

That is the height of hypocrisy.

A type of characteristic behavior from hypocrites and parasites.

"Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political career reveals a consistent pattern of double standards, where he often opposed economic policies as an opposition figure only to adopt the same measures once in power.

-1). Tinubu opposed Obasanjo’s fuel tax as well as price hikes in the early 2000s, yet reintroduced fuel-related levies in 2023.

-2). Tinubu challenged Obasanjo’s VAT regime along with federal revenue control, but now promotes VAT harmonization together with stronger federal tax authority.

-3). Tinubu condemned Jonathan’s fuel subsidy removal in 2012 while mocking the SURE-P palliative schemes, yet removed the subsidy while rolling out cash transfers in 2023.

-4). Tinubu supported Buhari’s refusal to devalue the naira in addition to warning against VAT increases in 2021 (“let the poor breathe”), yet unified exchange rates while expanding taxation as president.

-5). Tinubu once criticized IMF/World Bank prescriptions including subsidy removal, devaluation, privatisation, as well as tax reforms. Ironically, they are now central to his administration.

-6). Even Tinubu's warnings against excessive borrowing have been reversed, given that his government has taken new loans to fund reforms.

Now, If Tinubu claims that the policies he once antagonized but now embraces will move Nigeria forward, it implies that for all these years Tinubu have been among those dragging Nigeria backward through blind or politically motivated opposition rather than principled critique...." So also is Tinubu's shameless and hypocrisy denial of the infamous muslim muslim ticket for which he hired some charlatans to legitimized same including the only female among them who later was a club-girl seen with Tony Kabaka disguising as bishop unknown to the the mainstream Christian community in Nigeria. Only for him to say that is the best decision ever. Imagine he is married to a so called deceaness/pastor of a popular church in Nigeria

This is not after the inflammatory "poisonous communion challace" and the equation of Tinubu to Jesus Christ statements to spite the Christain faith. Imagine if these were directed at the other faith. What a country!

.
This is my displeasure and annoyance with his supporters that they have been trying in futility to shove down our throats in trying to grab a well known despicable criminal-minded man as a messiah.

Chai! Meanwhile here are the same hypocrites today:
While Tanko Yakasai was sacked after asking Buhari to resign over the rising insecurity and abductions in the country, checks by TheCable revealed that top APC chieftains, at different times, had asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to give up his office over failure to address security issues.

Aside from Yakasai’s post, there have been various calls for President Muhammadu Buhari to resign, but the presidency has described such comments as foolish.

IN 2015, APC WANTED JONATHAN TO RESIGN OVER ‘INCOMPETENCE’ “President Jonathan, who is also the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, must take responsibility for the monumental cost, whether of his incompetence or his political strategy-gone-awry or both, apologise to the nation and immediately back down from seeking re-election,” Lai Mohammed had said, in a statement he issued as spokesman of the APC at the time.

IN 2014, TINUBU DEMANDED JONATHAN’S RESIGNATION OVER ‘LACK OF CAPACITY’
Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos state, had asked Jonathan to resign over “lack of capacity” to tackle the country’s security challenges.
They have exhibited failure, lack of capacity, vision and creativity. The lies of yesterday are what they repeat today and are what they will repeat tomorrow. They are lying to you. They are lying about the security, toying about the security of this country. I don’t have time to explain the logic of their lies.

“But if you control the armed forces and you are the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the federal republic, why should any part of this country be under occupation? And you give us excuses every day. In any civilised country, Jonathan should have resigned. But if he will not resign, he should wait for our broom. We will sweep him away.”

BUHARI ASKED JONATHAN TO PAVE WAY FOR ‘COMPETENT HANDS’ IN 2013
“Jonathan should vacate and give way to competent hands to govern the country.” According to him, the then-president failed to perform his primary function of securing Nigerians.

IN 2012, EL-RUFAI ASKED JONATHAN TO ‘GO HOME’
“Why is it that only President Jonathan cannot solve Nigeria’s security problem? If he cannot do the job for which he was elected to do, he should consider going home. No president has ever sought the help of ordinary people in tackling security problems in this country,” el-Rufai was quoted to have said.

“The protection of lives and property of the citizens is the basis of any government in power and if the leadership has failed woefully to deploy the resources and information at its disposal to enforce coercive power for the benefit of the society, then it had no reason to stay on.”

These are one the reasons he's running away from debates, interviews and public media chats.
Now he is running to nowhere running Nigeria aground and ruining every legacies the last good governments have instituted. Guess his supporters are happy?

Meanwhile even Akpabio and Igbaja are begging Nigerians to continue to endure the pain and hardship they have consistently denied does not exist. You see how people can be really wicked?
