The Soviet Union voted and they are full fledged atheist. It was more of a geopolitical vote for them. Holocaust sympathy also played a role for them and many countries. The same Soviet Union armed Arabs to fight Israel.

Putin’s relationship with Israel is mostly his personal relationship with Jewish friends and his consideration for over a million Russians living in Israel. Bro Russia is not USA, you don’t see Russian politicians saying they’re blessed when they shake hands with Netanyahu, you don’t see them going to Israel wearing a Jewish cap, you don’t see Russian Christians encouraging the genocide and saying I stand with Israel.

You act like western support for Israel is ordained by God, but Israel is working really hard and doing horrible things to get this support. Sadly the EU countries formally recognizing the Palestinian State changes nothing as long as one permanent member of the UNSC continues to stand against this motion.

Unfortunately, the only two entities that can sway the US to greenlight a Palestinian State are the State of Israel and the US interest in the region. Lately, the two seems to go hand in hand. Apparently, no country has enough political leverage on the US to sway it opinion on the Palestinian Statehood.

The Republicans winning the majority of the seats in Congress sealed the fate of the Palestinian State for another four years. At the rate the Israelis are annexing the Palestinian lands, there'll be nothing left to recognize.
