The Olubadan designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has expressed his amazement at the continuous stream of high-profile visitors paying homage to him at his Bodija private residence in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Speaking to visitors on Monday, Ladoja said he was “overwhelmed by the number of dignitaries who have been coming to pay homage across Nigeria,” as he received yet another delegation of prominent political figures.

The latest group of visitors included former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel, National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Rauf Aregbesola, and National Leader of ADC, Olusegun Mimiko, who came specifically to congratulate him on his impending coronation as Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Daniel, who led the delegation, praised Ladoja’s multifaceted achievements, describing him as “a great politician, a great businessman, a shipowner, and a great governor.” He recalled their shared experience as governors, noting that among the five governors elected in the South-West region at the time, both he and Ladoja had cooperative backgrounds.

“When they wanted to capitalise bank, Ladoja’s contribution was so meaningful that it led to Wema Bank becoming a national bank,” Daniel explained, highlighting the business acumen of the Olubadan designate.

Mimiko echoed similar sentiments, stating that they came as admirers of Ladoja’s impressive track record. “His track record made us proud. So, we are his fans, that’s why we came here,” he said.

Aregbesola, acknowledging Ladoja’s senior status, emphasised that their visit was purely ceremonial. “We know Kabiyesi is now an old man, so no politics. We are just here to pay homage and tell him our readiness to attend the coronation.”

In response to the overwhelming show of respect, the humble Olubadan designate requested prayers from his visitors, saying, “You should all pray for me because I’m overwhelmed by the number of dignitaries who have been coming to pay homage across Nigeria.”


The continuous stream of high-profile visits underscores the respect and recognition Ladoja commands across Nigeria’s political landscape as he prepares to ascend the revered Olubadan throne.
