The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of a notorious commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), identified as Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, popularly known as Gentle de Yahoo.

Okorienta was captured by troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade in a joint operation with sister security agencies at his hideout in Aku-Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to the military, the operation led to the recovery of a cache of arms and items, including one English pistol, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, a cartridge, six mobile phones, military and police uniforms, as well as a German flag.

He has always been there to be captured. He doesn't even command much respect in the east.
He uses the phone regularly. Makes and posts messages online regularly, and so could be traced. Drives around a very small area that can be cordoned off, searched and combed. Visits his hometown at will. Involves himself in all sorts of meetings with the local communities that could be used as a set up/trap. He didn't help himself when he was allegedly involved in the killing of the 3 guys who disrespected his command. Those boys do have friends amongst the group and would've surely tipped off the security agencies on his whereabouts if they have the chance.

This goes to show that the security situation in the South-East is in many ways encouraged by the government. The same in the north. If the security guys put as much energy in catching the murderers in the north as they have done in this case, insurgencies in the north would have abetted. "Gentle" emerged from nowhere and held the security agencies at bay for years. In a very small community. His "capture", many years after, is more of a big question mark on the efficiency of the operational tactics used by the security agencies, and not something that will encourage all sorts of village excitements amongst some ethnic supremacists...

No wonder one of them was wailing so piteously on Tiktok this morning, calling Amotekun a bandit organization and lying that Amotekun has been the people responsible for the attacks in Kwara State. Certain people can't be granted amnesty again because they can't be trusted. Odumegwu Ojukwu was granted amnesty after going to war with his country. He was even allowed to contest for presidency under APGA. The thousands of rebels that fought on his side and the whole ethnic group were also granted amnesty and reintegrated back into Nigeria. After 34 years haitus, they started again. Ralph Nwazuruike was granted amnesty and is still currently enjoying the millions he collected from his gullible kinsmen. We have simply run out of amnesty for these set of people. So they will face the music for murder, mayhem and malady.

Never gonna happen. The kill quota of terrorists and criminals by the government is higher in the North than in the SE. No reasonable government will sit down and allow these guys to rest. Negotiation with who? You must be joking.
