Nigerian actress Dayo Amusa has publicly addressed recent rumours about her HIV status by sharing the results of her latest screening.

The rumor began when a content creator, Olaoluwa Segun, published a video naming Dayo Amusa among five Nigerian actors allegedly living with HIV.

DAILYPOST reports that Dayo Amusa responded via social media, stating the claim is false and malicious.

The actress pointed out that in 2019, she had already publicly shared her HIV-negative test result, as part of a campaign to raise awareness.

She revealed that the post was about encouraging people to know their status, not to signal that she was affected.

Amusa further threatened legal action against the content creator for spreading unverified information.

However, in response to persistent allegations claiming she was HIV positive, the actress released a photo of her test outcome on her instagram page on Tuesday, which confirmed that she is not infected with the virus.
She also encouraged her fans and Nigerians broadly to make HIV testing part of their health routine.

“I still feel the need to encourage individuals to get tested and know their HIV status. It is better to know your status so that you can guide yourself and save others too” she captioned.

It is bad how someone will wake up and start blackmailing someone with something as damaging as HIV.

I once suffered such fate..... someone wanted to tarnish my image because of a girl we were dragging... the guy went around and start saying that I have contracted HIV. That he saw me with a girl they knew had HIV.

That was how he damaged my name in the whole town. Some people even started avoiding me when the rumor was everywhere.

I simply kept my cool...it took much time for people in the town to know I didn't have any HIV.

I know the amount of pain and humiliation that false rumor caused me in that town.

It took only the grace of God for me to forgive that guy and move on with my life.

Well I understand the stigma but the fact that she is clearing her self is now questionable but it depends sha. People dey easily believe rumor than truth

This is very much ridiculous and abysmal. The continues intentional use of social media through content creation to ruin people's lives is becoming an endemic in the society and if we do not declare state of emergency on it by the said victims taking any brutal actions by holding this inconsequential and inordinate people accountable they will continuously doing it to others. Very unfortunate people that thinks everything is for the camera.

Posting your personal health results publicly makes me question their authenticity. If the result were positive, I doubt you would have shared or responded openly.

So definitely you don't know your current HIV status before. If the result is authentic then congratulations to you but if otherwise, you're doing yourself.
