Our Drivers Earn More Than Graduates, Four Times Minimum Wage’ – Dangote by chairmanawe(op): 7:14am On Sep 17, 2025
President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has said that their drivers earn four times the Nigerian national minimum wage.

Dangote made this know on Tuesday in an interview on Arise Television.

He added that their drivers earn better than graduates, stressing that joining the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, should be voluntary

“The trucks we launched didn’t stop anyone from their work. We hear there will be a loss of jobs. Will our tankers be driven by robots?

“Every truck is about six people. So these trucks they are fighting over will create 24,000 jobs.

“What we are saying is that our salary is almost three or four times their own. After five years free accident, a driver can apply and get a house loan.

Our drivers earn more than graduates. If you look at what they earn in a month, it’s almost four times the national minimum wage,” he said.

When they earn well, why are they not responsible on the wheel ?
Of all haulage companies and truck drivers, they are so reckless and the major cause of accidents on our roads.
They should be given regular training and orientation.
Safety at all times .
FRSC , ought to have been involved by positioning some of its officers to be going round major companies with high volume of haulage trucks to be giving them serious trainings and revalidate their driving skills from time to time.

Dangote owns the biggest truck driving school in the country. FRSC is the regulatory agency for driving school 🤷🏿

You cannot make money driving a tanker, except you sell Diesel.

Tanker drivers make their money from allowances and a good salary.

Re: Our Drivers Earn More Than Graduates, Four Times Minimum Wage’ – Dangote by JAWBONE(m): 12:57pm On Sep 17, 2025
NUPENG should stop wasting their time. We live in a free market.
Dangote can choose however he wants to deliver his petrol.

Also there should be stricter punishment for these dangote drivers in his other business because they seem to cause a lot of accidents every year

Re: Our Drivers Earn More Than Graduates, Four Times Minimum Wage’ – Dangote by Bwanasaraw:
Julius Berger has more heavy duty trucks than Dangote but they rarely have fatal accidents because their drivers are well trained and are barred from sniffing hard drugs or picking people when driving.
Their trucks also have speed limiter installed on them and are tracked from the office. The caution lights on the truck are always kept in good shape.

Dangote drivers are reckless and over worked. Many of them take hard drugs so they won't fall asleep and meet quotas given to them. Sometimes the tyre of the truck is not complete and they abuse the tonnage of the truck by carrying extra loads and passengers on the road.

Some of their drivers don't understand or speak English Language and I wonder how they read traffic instructions on the highway written in English Language.

The solution is for him to start employing graduates as drivers. A minimum of MSC. While he specifically trains them.
