emmaodet:Maji, madzi, amanzi, manzi, mayi, mae, kamachi, amatsi, amazi, metsi, mati, matsi, amadzi, amache, mashi, madi, amazzi, menshi...etc The above words translate to water in the numerous Bantu languages spoken across Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. I imagine the term mazi probably just means "water" in one of Angola's local languages. |

hodari:I wonder why you could say oil boom time is over when oil is trading over 90usd per barrel. and gas is over 2x as of last year. |
| Re: A Little Time In Angola by emmaodet(op): 12:32pm On Dec 18, 2022 |
okeysoninv:It is because- 1. It may never cross the $100/barrel mark again. 2. There is strong competition from alternative energies like electric cars, wind turbines in Europe used to power their cities etc that will constantly push down the price of crude and also reduce the demand for it. |
| Re: A Little Time In Angola by okeysoninv: 12:49pm On Dec 18, 2022 |
emmaodet:did you say never close $100/ barrel again when you has been more than that range is ukraine war. 2. oil will cont to play a major role industrialization . solar can never outshine use of oil. besides, Angola has alot of other natural resources diamond, cold, Copper etc. |

emmaodet:True |
| Re: A Little Time In Angola by blueAgent(m): 12:48pm On Jan 29, 2023 |
emmaodet:Sad. A country that should be competing with the likes of Qatar,Kuwait,UAE,Saudi in terms of development and wealth. I don't know what is wrong with the blackman. |
| Re: A Little Time In Angola by emmaodet(op): 3:22pm On Jan 29, 2023 |
blueAgent:Honestly, i think the black man/race iscursed. Namibia is larger than Nigeria landmass wise but with the population half of Ogun state (2.5m) which means there is vast land for farming or anything and the government overhead cost should be low because they will need to build less universities, hospitals, schools etc Ogun state has 1 federal uni, 1 state uni, i federal poly and 1 state poly, 2 colleges of education for a population of 5m, so namibia at worst needs half of that. Despite having huge diamond reserve, the country people are sooooo poor and the goverment has looted and borrowed from international banks to the limit with virtually nothing to show for the small population country. So sad. Atleast we can lie to ourselves here in nigeria that the population is too much for the revenue the country is earning to show. what about failed smaller countries with resources like equitorial guinea? gabon, namibia, angola, congos etc |
| Re: A Little Time In Angola by blueAgent(m): 4:22pm On Jan 29, 2023 |
emmaodet:Exactly. The same comparism can be done between Qatar,UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Gabon and equitorial Guinea. The both African countries are oil producers with population of less than 3miillion ppl each, they have favourable climate and arable soil with abundant mineral resources besides oil, Something those Arab nations I mentioned cannot boast of. Yet this African countries are more or less 3rd world countries with high level of poverty and infrastructure deficit. I have come to this conclusion long time ago, over 20years ago , that there is something really wrong with the black race. |
| Re: A Little Time In Angola by blueAgent(m): 4:38pm On Jan 29, 2023 |
emmaodet:Some confused and delusional dudes on this forum would blame this setbacks on western powers and colonization. But the truth and facts proves otherwise. How can one explain the level of poverty and undevelopment in Haiti and Liberia , 2 black nations with over 100years as independent nations. Or how do we explain the fact that Singapore a country that was thrown out of the union between them and Malaysia, can turn out to be one of the world's biggest economy and well developed country with advanced standard of living despite all the odds against them. Singapore lacks land resources, been an island, smaller than many LGA's in Nigeria,it is Less than 700sqkm, if you remove land reclaimed from the sea. Singapore does not have land for agricultural purposes. Singapore does not have any mineral resources even drinking water has to be imported through pipeline from Malaysia. They gained their independence in 1965. Singarpore has a population of about 5million ppl. Singapore has the qualities or disadvantages of a potential failed state, but instead of becoming a failed state, singarpore is an advanced country with well developed infrastructure and good standard of living. Gabon & equitorial guinea even with their oil wealth and smaller population and other advantages like availability of land, agricultural potential and other mineral resources they possess are still failed state or 3rd world countries, compared to singarpore despite all the advantages they have. Liberia after over 100 years of independence(got independence in 1847) with all there mineral wealth cannot compare to singarpore, same with Haiti( got independence in 1804) |

emmaodet:I doubt you've been to Namibia before? You can't compare the development in that country to Nigeria. Yes it has a smaller population and economy but when I visited there, I remember Windhoek as a nice organised city with low levels of visible poverty. Countries such as Botswana, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda are well managed, Black upper middle class countries. Bahamas and Bermuda in particular are wealthier and more organized than many European countries. |

I don't know what angola govt. want to use this big and massive airport for because they have a small population of 30m and a large percentage of them are poor. They hardly travel by air so i am just wondering who their target markets are? If this is in Lagos or Abuja or Egypt/Ethiopia/South Africa, i will understand due to their huge traffic or population or economy but Angola? With this massive infrastructure, it only means one thing - China that built this airport is positioning Angola for massive economic implosion soonest. It means there is a long term plan to open up Angola previously highly-closed economy to the outer world. It is/was a socialist-UUSR type of country that hardly allows foreigners into their country but after the last president that died in 2023, the country has been relaxing her grip on the citizens. The 30 years war was between Russia-supported/socialist sitting president and US-supported rebels but the end, the rebels lost. The last election i think in late 2023 or early 2024 was a tight battle between the Russia/China leaning sitting president and the US/Western backers leaning opposition candidate and the margin was very very tight and close - around 51/49% votes. Over the years, the margin has been closing gap and there is a popular believe the US-backed candidate will unseat the Russia/China backed presidential candidate and party in the next election. Last election was tight and rigid. There was frictions in the air and near/close violence and civil war in the fragile just coming out of a 30 years country.

Imagine a country with total daily local flight from her capital to other areas in the country to be just 9 flights per day, just 9. That is to tell you how poor they are. That is like saying Lagos to other local airports in nigeria flight per day is 9 or abuja. I want to believe calabar port or Uyo or Asaba do the same numbers per day. Remove Lagos, Abuja and PH because these are massive high traffic airports.

The new airport has 126 gates or outlets to enter a plane. That is to give you an idea how big and massive this airport is.

Great thread . Loving it. Welcome back to Angola. Angola is opening up and the US /French or western countries are investing heavily in their oil and gas . At the moment ,they have over USD5billion investment in a single JV that I know. |

Give update on the politics of the oil rich region and let us know if they still have similar immigration system at their borders . But if angola government is serious, they can open up Angola through regional infrastructural investments and improve on healthcare, education and sports massively |
| Re: A Little Time In Angola by emmaodet(op): 5:05pm On Sep 17, 2025 |
peleson1:The issue is the massive corruption in the country like every other black african countries. Are you in Angola presently? The immigration bottleneck is still in place. You need to pass through immigration when going from one region to the other e.g Luanda to Soyo to Cabinda |
