How can a grown man or woman watch fire kill him or did he try to jump and die in the process? Any ways, RIP to the dead and the good Lord console the bereaved, amen. |

SmartPolician:Don't mock the dead because you were not there and so don't know how it happened. |

SmartPolician:Hmmm. You're uninformed because you don't read or misinformed because you read. In such disaster, smoke kills, not necessarily fire. Not everyone know they are suppose to crawl and not walk. Sometimes fear can make one take wrong decision. |

What have they learned from this incident? Or is it business as usual? |

SmartPolician:Grown people die in fire all the time. Once you're surrounded by smoke, it sucks out the oxygen and you're dead. |

SmartPolician:Can u jump from a 6 storey building? I can only blame Eko fire service department cos lagos island is too major and strategically positioned not to have a dedicated fire service and also UBA emergency services. Their HQ was nearby and should have mid fire fighting and rescue unit. They should have had ladders. |

The banking industry with such structure should look for a way and get fire service of their own since all the headquarters are in same direction, pool funds and pay them incase of scenarios like this, also emergency exit doors must be put in place to enable easy access in case of emergency. May God rest the souls of the affected staff |

Gosh, I am sure it's that particular man that jumped and hit his head on the wall yesterday. The way he landed, landing backward and hitting his head; People were already shouting he was dead before he was later carried, I am not sure if they even took him straight to the hospital yesterday..... |

sonssyo:Exactly what I told my wife a few minutes ago. I know at least five banks in that axis that have their HQ there. Does it even mean each of them does not have a fire fighting truck not to even talk of pulling resources together . A fire outbrake in a six storeyed building and there are casualties like that. What happens if it were to to UBA House or FBNH HQ? Indeed, human life is valueless in Nigeria. |

Rebuke:The casualties are many. Some died from suffocation. I just received a call from a friend whose pastor died in the incident. Quite a number of people were even taken to the hospital dead. NOT ONE PERSON AT ALL. |

The Lagos emergency response team, has to really up their game in the Lagos island Lga. They need a lot of things in place, cause this Place is very prone to fire incident |

ppogba:Chaii the casualties wasn't supposed to be high if those responsible for safety were proactive and effective in their duties how can they just allow bank workers to perish miserable like that in an incident that happened during daylight? |

So no fire escape measures in that big building?.. That's so unfair o Mr Elumelu. How will those depending on the dead cope going forward?.. We need better work culture, safe work environment and strong labour laws in this country. Those deaths were avoidable had it been there were proper fire safety systems in place. |

As big as that building is, common fire gadgets, they didn’t have. Emergency exit, probably it’s not built there. A lot of “I don’t care” is too much in Nigeria settings. What will take the so tall building to erect a meltalic permanent ladder like 3 places in the building? So, many avoidable death is too much in Nigeria. Another question, what causes fire? Hope others will learn ? But average Nigerian won’t learn, if you ask them about their fire security system for their business, they will either say “God forbid and rebook you” or say “ Do you want to burn it?” I asked a man that sell plastic sometimes ago, if he has fire extinguishers . He said I dey wish him bad. Extinguishers of ordinary 15k, and you sell plastic, a man sell foam beside you and non has it. Imagine, you have goods worth of millions of naira and you can’t buy something of 15k to secure your business? It’s well |

Wucked CEO/MD's the money Tony Elumelu spends on his Christmas white party in his residence every year is enough to buy four stationery fire-fighting trucks and equipment. Misplace priority. These individuals don't care; all they care about is their profit and increasing it further. Lives would have been saved if these facilities were on the ground. RIP to the deads |
