His Selections, his Positionings and the timing of his Substitutions are terrible!

My few take on the game are

1) Maresca will need to find another defender that can play well in that midfield by January...James or gusto playing there don't really thing out of the box enough

2) Tosin is not an elite center back...it's a shame colwill got injured ...he is not so good playing from the back ....and always jiltery...chelsea still don't have a commander in defence like most big sides....Tosin is not Chelsea standard by any stretch

3) Cucurella for the first time had a bad game today ...I am not bothered but seem he struggles with technical players ...he is still good anyway...like I said...I am not bothered about him

4) Maresca will need to reduce how much he plays players out of position ... especially when it gets to knock outs where u will to have your best in each position

Individual mistakes took the game away...and that's one reason I feel Chelsea is still not on the standard defensively...this is champions league not EPL

That's why I said in terms of tactics, he's an AMODU SHUAIBU.

Common sense should have beckoned on him that both teams are not the same. Hence, his approach shouldn't be the same. For a start, the then PSG TEAM didn't use a top striker. They prefer using Dembele as a false 9. But Bayern has a top striker in Harry Kane. If not SHUAIBU, which world class coach would take similar approach?

Secondly, PSG midfield style isn't the combative type. They hold the ball and do more of pressing play. Bayern's midfield is more aggressive and plays counter attack mostly. Hence, a sensible coach needs people that can mark the ball or intercept passes. If a coach of Maresca's calibre doesn't know this, then, I'm afraid he's even worse than AMODU SHUAIBU.

Today's match was lost woefully due to his tactical ineptitude. Although it wouldn't be the first though and trust me, it won't be the last either.

When I see some of these nairaland wannabe football experts laugh at man utd for losing two matches in their last four games I just know they're just novices who know nothing about football. Man utd lost two matches because of the quality of the teams they played against in those matches. Chelsea haven't lost a match because they've not yet played any big team. Arsenal played two big teams, won one and lost one. Man city played two, won one and lost one and there's a tendency that either Arsenal or man city will have their second defeat of the season on Sunday. Man utd drew Fulham away, Chelsea Brentford but their minds have deceived them that man utd are very poor. The end they say justifies the means.

Please go find somewhere to seat ...how many small sides has your united beaten in the last 20 games in EPL from last season...your man u that cant even possess the ball for 10minutes....the Fulham that dealt with u ...didn't Chelsea beat them....

Your analysis is top-notch. Why in fvk name did he bench Estevao for as long as 81mins before subbing him in? Something he should have done immediately at the start of second 45 mins. I'm not too surprised though. Our coaches always get sacked the season after they win trophies. His case will not be different.
