I'm considering doing the same. But do you think it's advisable considering my application is almost 16 months and I got a PFL..? I'm scared I might be rejected. But there's no harm in trying sha since it's just 100 dollars for the application.

Sigh
I just tire.
6lam Thanks for your response

@sade No harm in trying i will advise you add all the proof you sent to them too when applying for TRV i guess our application is under review and to get response usually takes 18 months or more.

Please I need an advice, my traditional marriage was done on 20th April in lagos and we went to Enugu to do the Marriage registration on 26th so as to obtain the marriage certificate. Now, which date do I tell ircc was my marriage date?? is it the traditional date or the date we went to register it legally? Also can I do trad in another State and register in another state? please I need clarification.. Thanks
Re: Canada Spouse Family Sponsorship Visa/appeal Process by Taigreg(m): 3:44am On Jun 01, 2025
Use the date on your Marriage certificate. IRCC understands that marriage ceremony can go beyond just one day.

You can look at going for a visit visa in the main time, I did the same and got approved after 2 weeks while still waiting for spousal sponsorship.
Ohh..Thank you

It's a legal document in Nigeria and as such should be recognized. Check what was written as acceptable evidence in the document checklist. I will suggest to also include a LOE to back up why you're using Customary Cert.

Good morning everyone,

I’m reaching out to hear from others who have been through a similar situation. My application status shows “Eligibility Completed”, but I’ve been waiting for a long time now with no updates on the background check.

If you’ve experienced a long wait of 5 or more months after eligibility was completed, could you please share:
How long your background check took after eligibility?
What, if anything, you did to help move the process along (e.g., webform requests, MP inquiry, GCMS notes)?

Any advice or tips that helped you stay informed or get an update?

Your responses would really help and encourage those of us still waiting. Thank you in advance for sharing your experience!

Hello. This thread is really quiet. No PPR’s? I’ve been waiting for over 5 months to hear back from ircc after medicals but not a word from them. Background check in progress, eligibility not started yet. Is this normal? Should I do another police report?

Goodday, everyone.

I am applying for the Spousal Sponsorship visa and my wife is the one filling both the Sponsor and Applicant form for us over there in Canada. Please, do she still need to fill the representative form being that she is the one filling the Applicant form on my behalf over there?

I will appreciate your honest response and guideline.

Thank you.

I Tap into this.
I submit for my wife April 29th, Medical and biometrics confirmed passed June 19.
We have not heard anything since.

We had our church and big party in August 9 although we did intro and trad December last year and we provided pictures from those to them.

Do we still need to send pictures from our church blessing and wedding party to IRCC?

our VO as we know is currently Sydney in Canada.

We requested GCMS notes since July 22 and yet to receive it

Did you submit a marriage certificate? The marriage certificate is important because from what you’re saying it’s only pictures you provided, if you did not provide a registered wedding certificate it will definitely delay the process.

I didn’t do a white wedding. I did only civil and trad. I provided the pictures and the marriage certificate. By God’s grace our application was approved in August, we submitted in May.
