Actually it was way less than 3 months because my Spouse went to the embassy on the 31st of July and the State Office for Immigration reached out to me on the 19th of August

I would have gotten the approval way sooner if not for the back and forth with the office in Germany, a story for another time.

hollameday:
I just went through our trend now and I can see it took 3 months to process, thats lovely.( July to September )

So guys: waiting time is 2 years and processing time is 3 months if all your documents are complete.

congratulations once again, and thank you for always sharing updates, you are the real MVP.

Quick question pls.. Was the verification process waived for your spouse? This 1 it took less than 3 months? I thought after going for the interview, then comes verification process and after that the visa comes out?

I think what helped is that I am on an EU Blue card because the lady interviewing my spouse even mentioned it when my wife messed up during the A1 fluency test.

She asked my spouse to tell her what she did the previous day in german and when she went blank, asked her to write it on paper, giving her another chance, citing the above.

On my end, they requested for some unusual documentation, like a letter from my health insurance with a history of my insurance type and the companies I have worked for since arriving in germany. That request was so unusual that my german colleague did not know that a document like that from a health insurance even exists. He spoke to them on my behalf and I received it.

Congratulations! I have a few questions:

Is A1 fluency still necessary if the spouse is a blue card holder? I read that the requirement is waived off in this case.

Also, how many weeks after your spouse’s interview at the Lagos embassy did the German government reach out to you provide your supporting documents?

Lastly, does an exact 24m^2 apartment satisfy the requirement for sufficient living space? In addition, what happens if the apartment’s rent agreement does not contain the apartment size? Must I request an additional document containing this info from my landlord?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the update.. I thought as much... (My wife is on Family reunion with German spouse) I am just waiting for my spouse to finish the process and get her visa then me and the embassy go sit down talk.. They will explain to me why they are requesting for a reverification and a second payment after their lawyer came last year, the standesamt initiated the Verification process through the embassy in lagos (i was asked to deposit (€1450) for the whole process, which i did, when they had finished, everything costed them about €320 und they returned the rest of the money to me.. The gave us a copy of the appraisal of the Embassy one for me n one for my spouse.. My wife submitted all the documents used for the verification (they all have the German Embassy Lagos stamp on them and a copy of the verification appraisal fr om the embassy on the day of interview.. To my utmost surprise they still asked us to pay anothe 250k for verification process... They will need to explain why 1 have 2 pay twice for the same process... I need that explanation.. Make we finish the process first..
Also they immigration office in my city also contacted me about 2 weeks after her interview asking for me to send them a copy of my certificate of citizenship, a letter of sponsorship (it like a form i filled it out and then signed the oath on it) and copy of my last 3 payslips. I sent it to them same day, since then silence.. The only thing remaining for now from my spouse is A1, her last a1 expired in july and her interview was August, so she was asked to submit a new 1..Make we dey see sha...

1. They did not specify on the website. We took the A1 certificate regardless and she was still asked to describe her previous day in written form
2. Two and a half weeks

So they have asked my spouse to submit her passport and proof of health insurance

I think this is it

I really can't say. Mine and my spouse's experience at the embassy was very different. I spent 10+ hours, she spent 2+. I had an annoying attendant, who almost made me cursed her out because she was a proper assh*le. My spouse's attendant was very friendly and helpful.

The only similarity between both experiences was that they stuck with the requirements listed on their website

Hello, house. Pls I need some clarification on family Reunion visa. Will I apply for my husband, and also for my 3 kids all separately? that is totalling 4 different applications? Also is there a possibility of merging my kids to my husband when he gets an appontment?

yes, you have to book for all of them separately but on the same day so they can all go to the embassy the same day, I´m guessing that if will let all of them in at the same time.

Good day all.

Please can someone help with the link to book an appointment for a student visa? And how long is the current waiting time for students?
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by pquaver(m):
Please for people who has completed the process, can u please tell us how long FRV processing takes after the interview till the notification for visa approval? I mean for those with German spouses or spouses on Resident permit that is not EU blue card. EU blue card language und verification is waived, so we already know it takes 2 months... But the others takes.....? Will be grateful if some can give us a hint here!!!

Hi guys,

Can anyone please let me know how best to get this document "prepaid courier envelope addressed to your self" ? and if it’s possible to get it on the same day of Interview very early?.
The interview time is 8:00am and one would touch down in Lagos, the previous day late in the evening and too late to get the courier guys.

Also can one and their Child share the same envelope or every applicant needs to bring a different envelope?

Thank you smiley
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by KingThomas1(m): 1:33pm On Sep 24, 2025
To the best of my understanding, each application needs to have it's own envelope. It's where your passport and other submitted documents would be placed and sent back to you.

You can visit DHL offices to get this. Although from the Germany Student Visa Telegram group, It seems it is possible to get it that day also (apparently someone sells it there, not at the embassy oo, but close to there). But I would strongly recommend getting it before leaving to avoid stories that rouches the heart.

hollameday:
I have taken time to monitor this trend and I have noticed that it take between 19 to 23 months to get an appointment from the day you book an appointment. (omo no be beans oh).

so what I have tried to do that might help us all is to list out the months and the possible month that you will get an appointment.

Whoever you are, I think you are very good in predicting. Currently they are in Nov. 2023 and your predictions seem to be correct. Any delay maybe due to over booking in certain month. I will like to connect with you. I am currently in Germany and I booked for my family May 22, 2023. johndamisa66@gmail.com.

Presently the embassy are on the people that book their appointment in July and august 2023 ( Noticed that from this trend)

August/September 2023 = June/July 2025

September/October 2023 = July/August 2025

October/November 2023 = August/ September 2025

November/ December 2023 = September/October 2025

December 2023/January 2024 = October 2025/ November 2025

January /February 2024 = November/ December 2025

with what I have also notices there might be few days delay but I think it will be close to this days. lets keep supporting each other and standing by each other.

This process is not easy and its not for the weak.

Dear all,

I would like to ask for an update on the appointment date. Could you please let me know the current status at the embassy? I also have a few specific questions:

1. I am on an 18d residence permit. Does my wife need to present an A1 language certificate? (She plans to take the exam in February 2026, while my appointment date is May 22, 2024.).

2. Will document verification be required in my case? I heard that certain categories such as DAAD, 18d, and Blue Card holders may be exempted.

3. For a family of four (including myself), what size of apartment is required?

4. For the same family size, what is the required net or gross salary? I ask this because my employer is currently paying me 75% of my salary.

I would greatly appreciate your guidance on these questions. Thank you very much in advance.

I think it would be best you check the consulate website for the requirements and make sure you have all of it complete.

For the size of the apartment, you should check https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/living-in-germany/housing-mobility/housing-registration. They do not joke with this as they requested for my rental contract, specifically my rent and the size of my apartment.

This was really helpful, I have been looking for where to find this and this was what I found, just for others that are also looking. for this same information.

'' There must be between eight and ten square metres of floor area per person, and six square metres for children under the age of six.

Hello, all

I had my interview yesterday, this is the document checklist they currently operate with. You must arrange your documents in this order from the gate

No need to take photocopies of no. 1, 2 & 3. The man at the gate (not Paulinus) said they no longer ask for that
From no. 9 is where he started asking for photocopy + original

Also attached is an important notice for those who have their interviews soon
Please I want to ask, the Questionnaire is gotten from where? Will it be handed to you on the interview day ?
