I don't smoke, but also I don't look down on people who smoke.

But still, I can't help but wonder: what's so addictive about smoking? And why do people still choose to smoke up on all the warnings and health risks?

Just the other day I came across an empty pack of cigarettes. Lo and behold, they've graduated from just writing "smokers are liable to die young" to know using graphic images of a severely cigarette-damaged lung. All this in a to dissuade people from smoking.

So, my question is, why do people still smoke when the disadvantages are so glaring?

It’s called addiction! They know the adverse effect but still cannot stop.

Nicotine is addictive. It takes grace and determination to quit.

Do you drink Coca Cola? Try abstaining from soft drinks for a full year. If you can, smokers should be able to quit cold turkey.

Nicotine is addictive. Look at how children struggle to eat meat. It is the same. The cigarette companies don’t care about the health of their customers. Those pictures are put in a bid for them to claim that sensible people were warned. They know very well any six year old will get hooked if he/she learns to puff smoke properly. Anyone who dies from cancer will be replaced in tens.

Like some said before ..the tobacco itself is not addictive ... it's the nicotine. The cigarette companies know this and inject addictive amounts into the cigarette. These was a lawsuit in the US against Big Tobacco...cigarette manufacturers.itnwas filed by the FG and they won. Part of the decision was basically outlawing any form of advertising or encouragement for others. If we notice....in the US ..no smoking on TV shows...no smoking by actors in movies ...in buildings...no bill boards etc. Cigarette companies target the young ...get them to smoke early...they be hooked for a life time. Same path Big Pharma is on.... Loading babies with vaccines .... hooking them for a lifetime. If addicted to cigarettes...they offer "the patch" ...like a bandaid .That is packed with nicotine which enters the blood via the skin....and the nicotine addiction goes on. Who's fooling who? New York doesn't have a cigarette addiction problem among the youths. It's rare to see a youth smoking a cigarette. They introduced a heavy tax on cigarettes and keep raising it every year. Cigarette is pretty much unaffordable......s14 and change for the cheapest pack ...20 sticks. Lagos should impose same....make cigarette unaffordable.

Because they think it won't hit them. Stats are just numbers. So if they say 90% of smokers die of something something disease, you reckon you'd be among the 10% who don't get the disease. Of course, you'd also know your auntie's husband who smoked all his life and lived to be 94. You feel sure that your case would be like that.

The coke nd Fanta that u can not stop drinking do u think it is not also harmful. Addiction is addiction
