We Are Under Intense Pressure – CPC Ex-Chairmen Deny Endorsing Atiku by Pakute(op): 8:27pm On Sep 20, 2025
The Forum of State Chairmen of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change on Saturday distanced itself from the recent visit of a few of its members to the Abuja residence of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

It described the visit as the personal decision of a few individuals, stressing that it did not represent the position of the group.

The Forum also urged the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress to address what it called the continued marginalisation of the CPC bloc within the APC.

Atiku who has since renounced his membership of the PDP, is reportedly wooing many opposition figures to rally round him in a bid to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the. 2027 presidential election.

Although, he is yet to declare for any of the existing political parties, there are indications that the ex-Vice President will formally join the African Democratic Congress ahead of the polls.

Already, CPC chieftains including former governors of Kaduna and Rivers States, Nasir El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi respectively as well as ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal have teamed up with Atiku to work against Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Earlier in the week, the Atili took to his social media handles to announce the visit of some ex-CPC State Chairmen, stressing that he advised them to encourage their supporters to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration.

However, in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Kasim Mabo (National Chairman); Sulaiman Oyaremi (National Secretary); Olalekan Obolo (South West Coordinator); Enyinnaya Nnachi (South East Coordinator) and Ahmad Dawayo (North East and North West Coordinator), the Forum clarified that out of its 37 members, only 16 have pledged their support to Atiku while 20 are in the same boat with President Tinubu.

The statement claimed that allies of the opposition have been pressuring the forum with offer of financial incentives to dump the APC in preparation for 2027.

The statement read in part, “We wish to categorically state that 20 members of the group remain committed to the All Progressives Congress. We wish to state clearly that for some time now our Forum has been put under intense pressure which includes financial gratification by opposition leaders which accounts for why nine of our members succumbed to their pressure a few months ago and seven others joined them only last week as it appears they could no longer resist the pressure.

“As we speak however, 20 of us remain unwaivering as we have lost one of our members from Borno State. This moment however calls for reflection, especially by the presidency and the APC leadership to urgently address the continued neglect of the CPC bloc, particularly the Forum of State Chairmen who are feeling increasingly alienated.

“Without the fear of sounding immodest, we remain the direct link to the grassroots structures that gave the CPC its national relevance and we were the Chairmen that worked with President Muhammadu Buhari of blessed memory to achieve the much touted 12.5m votes.”

The group noted that the gathering of the CPC elements at Atiku’s residence was nothing short of a move to give the former Vice President a misleading impression of “Widespread support.”

Reaffirming its loyalty, the Forum expressed support for the leadership of the defunct CPC bloc, led by Senator Tanko Al-Makura, Aminu Masari, and Tajudeen Abbas.

“We remain loyal, patient, but firm in our resolve to demand for better patronage just as we pray that the Almighty God shall continue to guide Mr President and indeed all our leaders,” the statement added.

These ones are from the begger faction of the defunct CPC group. They remain hopeful, hoping against hope that Tinubu will find something for them. None of Buhari’s men are in Tinubu’s government today, that is all true supporters of Buhari need to know where Tinubu stands. The fiasco and eye-service that happened in Kaduna yesterday fooled no one.

I pity Atiku, at this point, I so much pity him. if he thinks he can use financial inducement to get support. That strategy' has failed him over and over. If he couldn't out muscle Tinubu, Amaechi and the likes that ensured Buhari's victory at APC primaries in 2014, if he couldn't out muscle Wike during 2022 PDP primaries that it had to take a last minute coup from Tambuwa, Ayu Iyorchia, David Mark, to snatch the ticket from Wike. Is it now when he is at his lowest that he wants to out muscle the sitting President. If people like Dele Momodu, Kenneth Okonkwo, Babachir Lawal, Malami, Elrufai & co dey deceive Atiku, I too dey pity am.
He no longer has any resources from any state to fund his campaign, he has lost all PDP state the minute he decamped to ADC. No oil money to throw around. I pity him.

Doing fine and in high spirits. Strategic silence is a thing. Coming straight from Saudi Arabia where he had been on lesser hajj, he attended a wedding in Kaduna today where he stood in as father of the groom and also visited Senator Abdulaziz Yari alongside Bindow, the former governor of Adamawa State. He also received Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who paid him a Solidarity visit at his residence. The coalition to unseat Tinubu is fully on course. You're welcome.

I don't know it, but Atiku might just create (a) the 9th wonder of the world (b) the one that succeeded after the 5th failure at the Presidency. He has courted his enemies in those attempts.
Re: We Are Under Intense Pressure – CPC Ex-Chairmen Deny Endorsing Atiku by emkz:
There is no seriousness in Atiku about being president.

What is the use of ex-CPC chairmen endorsing Atiku, only to deny? Would they do this while Buhari was alive?

Recall that El Rufai wanted to rope Buhari into his defection drama by stating that he had informed Buhari of his defection to SDP. Buhari was to publicly dissociate himself from El Rufai's antics and committed himself to APC.

While Buhari was sick, some of his former appointees like Lauretta Onochie were doing opposition.

Any Buhari's appointee who sides with the opposition is opposed to Buhari, and shows they were never Buharists or Buharideens. While Buhari was alive, those endorsing Atiku were hardly active. Buhari is the heart and soul of CPC. Without him, those parading as CPC men are weak.

That said, Atiku has not built a machinery to wrestle power from Tinubu. Atiku has not stabilized ADC. He is busy visiting El Rufai who lied that Tinubu wants to stay forever. He visits Pantami. Atiku inherited Yar'adua's People's Democratic Movement and mismanaged it. In the unlikely event that he inherits Buhari's followers, he'd mismanage it.

Atiku had the presidency on the platter in 2023. Everything was against Tinubu. Naira redesign, fuel scarcity, hatred for APC. But Atiku mismanaged it by not managing Wike and Kwankwaso and Obi. After he lost, he mismanaged it by using petulant strategies that Tinubu did not graduate from Chicago. He wasted time proving nothing, time he could have used to start building a party and mobilizing a movement.

Now, the strategy for 2027 is strategic lies.

Dear Atiku, wake up! This is not the path to becoming president!!

Normally politics are being played. CPC block dominated Buhari Government and ACN block was quite. Everything was balanced now but all can not be appointed. Meanwhile, jagaban is not Buhari in politics of wining elections otherwise the CPC block only would have won elections before APC was formed.

Tinubu once said, u loose some you gain Many is the beauty of the game. Now I understand.

You have summarized Atiku failures especially last election he has 80% chance to win but he used pettiness, lie and stubbornness to mismanage Wike. If he has supported Wike or Obi Ike the way Tinubu supported Buhari in 2015. By now he will be counting days to his presidency.

Wrong. You cannot rewrite history. ACN bloc was well represented in Buhari’s cabinet starting from the number 2 man, Osinbajo. Even the number 4 man was Gbajabiamila and Tinubu even wanted the number 3 man before Saraki played a fast one. Don't get me started on powerful ministers like Fashola, Dare (current presidential spokesman), FIRS Boss (Fowler) and several others. I repeat, no CPC member is represented in Tinubu’s government. He came in with the mentality of chasing them out of the party. He's that greedy and self-centred.

No matter how the pressure is intensify it will never work. It is obvious Atiku and his criminal gang are not for the betterment of Nigeria but to make sure power return to the North by all means and I can assure Atifku and his gang we are patiently waiting for them.

Fulani will never remove another Southern president as they did to Gej again. Its unbelievable the people who are less than 5% of 250m population always never want anybody from the South to rule over them, say who die? Atifku we are waiting for you and your criminal gang. Eyes go turn you all.

Does Tinubu look like someone who got time to bully? Others are compelled to join him. It’s always been like that. His are always the best that others join him willingly.
