delkuf:So all governors are living lavishly? Why can't Kano secure a revenue of 10 billion dollars per annum and use part of it to solve Nigeria's steel problem? That is just 500 dollars per head per annum. I live in Nigeria |

| Re: UK Based Nigerian Explains Why He Prefers Paying Taxes In UK by nairalanda1(m): 2:33am On Sep 23, 2025 |
delkuf:So after fighting corruption, which i have never opposed, it is you who think i excuse it, we still have the issue of a very low budget of 30 trillion for 240 million people? Okay. |
| Re: UK Based Nigerian Explains Why He Prefers Paying Taxes In UK by nairalanda1(m): 2:41am On Sep 23, 2025 |
delkuf:Hey Nigerians! My support for taxes on those who do not pay taxes and industrialization does not mean i don't support war against corruption The more people who pay taxes and the more industrialized we become, the less easy it becomes to be corrupt. Because corruption under these circumstances will anger a lot of people and cause severe revolution. So any leader better not be corrupt at all. Corruption is fuelled today because we run a resource dependent economy. Since most government money is from oil , they don't feel obligated to be our servants, so them apc politicans steal. As did their predecessors. If most revenue from government comes from the people, any stealing is going to be met with riots and protests. And they the leaders know this. Also corruption will harm an industrial economy, so them leaders would be scared to wreck it. I hope you people can see my point now. If you can't , sorry And yes we can fight corruption now. But most of you on both sides , tinubu and obi and atiku are only interested in using corruption as a stick to beat each other with. That's why we will never see an end to it. You Nigerians really love your corruption. And it is sad |

nairalanda1:Household stop lying. My house in abuja is in an area where every house owner pays tax. Yes, an exclusive zone but we did the road, bought 2 transformers, service it to date, employ our own security, and before Nigerians started band A to Z, our electricity band is A. In the whole abuja, we are billed more than the rest cos we hardly have power outage. What has the govt done for us? Oh, every house has borehole. People living there has the money to pay for govt to do their job but govt will take the money and go away so like I said, stop lying. As I am out of Nigeria,I still pay for all those things. Imagine comparing Naija taxation with UK. What an insult on Nigerians. |

descarado:Okay, enjoy your bad service. As you say, we are too poor to afford better Also you are representative of all Nigeria. Every Nigerian is like you and earns the same amount you do. ![]() |

lawani:I suspect this is a response that's drafted by an AI. Substantiate your argument and tell us how money from subsidy removal has improved the lives of Nigerians. Show us what's on ground from subsidy so that we can be convinced that more will come our way from paying taxes. |
| Re: UK Based Nigerian Explains Why He Prefers Paying Taxes In UK by descarado: 8:15am On Sep 23, 2025 |
nairalanda1:Seems you have nothing to say. I can comfortably tell you so many places in Nigerian states where people are paying to their teeth for all these yet, money disappears without trace or action. Even the poor is ready to pay if he sees where the money is going into. Some Nigerians even construct roads. Thats how irresponsible Nigerian political space is. So shut it whe n you know nothing and obviously pay nothing. Let those who pay for services they dont see lament. |

descarado:I'm just being honest. If you want good service, you pay well. It's not a message I like, but it is the truth. Your commentary here, won't change that fact. You can join a party and change things from within. Maybe I will vote for you. I'm tired of our politicans. |
| Re: UK Based Nigerian Explains Why He Prefers Paying Taxes In UK by descarado: 8:26am On Sep 23, 2025 |
nairalanda1:So those who have been paying well, where is the good service? Its practically non existing in Nigeria. There was a small dent on one elderly lady's car one day and she sued the council for not fixing it on time. She won. There is corruption all over the world but the type we have in Nigeria makes people weep bloody tears. Its not hidden anymore. We celebrate it |
| Re: UK Based Nigerian Explains Why He Prefers Paying Taxes In UK by nairalanda1(m): 8:29am On Sep 23, 2025 |
descarado:Well, 1. 70% Of Nigerians do not pay taxes 2. Most of healthcare and electricity is subsidised which is why there are not profitable 3.Our budget before corruption is 30 trillion. For 230 bn people. That is not enough 4.80 % Of our revenue comes from oil that can only sustain a nation of 2 million people. We have no productive industires, and no diversified economy, especially as regards our agric and minerals. If you read my posts, you will see I am angry with the government for not making more money, not just corruption. But you have assumed I support tinubu and am oppresor, so good morning, and good luck. |

[quote author=Gerrard59 post=13688What if the employer does not pay a salary to himself or pays just the minimum wage? That is tax avoidance rather than evasion.[/quote]Laws can be made to take care of all that. CEOs paying themselves one dollar per annum should be illegal |
| Re: UK Based Nigerian Explains Why He Prefers Paying Taxes In UK by delkuf(m): 9:13am On Sep 23, 2025 |
nairalanda1:I don't care about low budget. Even if we have a budget of 1 billions dollars with the corruption of Nigeria, there will be no effect of that money on the ordinary citizens. Lets deal with corruption head on. Look at what happened in Nepal. Now that they have dealt with there corrupt leaders, they can now start talking about industrialization |
| Re: UK Based Nigerian Explains Why He Prefers Paying Taxes In UK by delkuf(m): 9:23am On Sep 23, 2025 |
nairalanda1:if we fight corruption there will be enough cash. What is the corruption we are talking about here is it not the misappropriation of fund by this govt. If we can fight corruption there will enough cash. You saying there is no enough cash and this govt is using over 300 billion to do 1577 street light. That means one street light is done by over 200 million naira. Just one street light. And you are saying there is no cash. Guy don't just say anything again. You are one of them |

delkuf:So, 30 trillion is enough for 240 million people. Oga, either you are supporting tinubu, or you are just joking. Tinubu is a bad leader because we should have a budget of 100 trillion or more...not just 30 trillion |
