He was the president and the commander of the armed forces of Africa’s largest country at the time yet he bowed to the pressure of opposition. If he truly believed in his own convictions, he would go ahead without minding the noise. Tinubu just did it even when his reelection is at stake. No matter what you think, Subsidy shouldn't be kept, even GET tried to remove it, failing to remove is no one else fault but his, a leader is supposed to be decisive in making decisions

On subsidy, I personally warned President Goodluck Jonathan that he was being misled. The system was built to benefit depot owners, and members of the association became the primary beneficiaries.

Otedola is not saying the truth. Where were you when Jonathan wanted to remove subsidy ? Did you support him ? Did you release any press statement to that effect during this time ?

The most important question is..despite knowing all this about the subsidy, why did you not warn your brother Tinubu to shelve his Ojota protest against that same subsidy you are today saying is a scam yourself ?

You went quiet all through this time as GEJ wanted to do the needful. You did not come out to show your support for subsidy removal when Jonathan wanted the subsidy gone.

Also, the argument that GEJ tried to remove subsidy is not technically correct because when you remove subsidy, you do not fix a price; instead, you allow market force to determine the new price. What GEJ did then was to increase the pump price.

When we ask you why APC government that removed Jonathan was not able to jail all these people, you will start singing the old national anthem.

YOUR CLAIMS ARE WRONG

1: Jonathan rebased the economy. As a result of rebasing the economy "grew" instantly from $269B to $510. It’s not Jonathan that took the economy from $269B to over $500B, it just means the previous figures (including the $269B) were understated and inaccurate and the performance of the economy by previous presidents before the rebasing was not properly calculated. It is merely an accounting change. Similarly the rebasing under Tinubu that took our economy to $243B is merely accounting.

2; it is wrong to asses Nigeria's economy in dollars. it is only used to get a rough measure for comparing countries but nominal GDP is not an accurate reflection of an economy's performance. As an example, in the last few months, the naira has gone from N1650 to N1490 to $1. does that mean the GDP has grown over 10%?
3: the NBS announded yesterday that our 2Q GDP grew 4.3%, the highest in 9 years. so your claim that he hasnot added to our GDP is false.
4: Nigeria's growth under Jonathan was an accident of fortune 2.1MBPD and $100+ oil price and what did he do with it? Tell me a single legacy infrastructure project that Jonathan left behind for all his great economy? For all the road, which road did he build? whatever you may say about Buhari. Nigeria is littered with infrastructure project, roads, rail etc that will continue to be enjoyed 50years from now. What are we using today that was built by Jonathan talk less 20 or 50 years from now? i am from the SW, I wasnt born when Awolowo was premier but we see his legacies all over the SW, All the industrial estates in lagos (isolo, ikeja, ilupeju, ogba, iganmu etc) were built by Awolowo, Obafemi Awolowo University was built by Awo, Free education, the roads, his farm settlements are still there, i can go on and on... Awo left office 65 years ago, these things are still there.. FDR built the American highway network close to 100 years ago.....what is Jonathan's legacy? what can you point to and tell your child or grandchild in future that this was built by a man called Goodluck Jonathan?

The untimate test of a good leader is what you continue to benefit from long after he has left office...that is what you call legacy! what is Jonathan's legacy especially as things were so good under him as you say? No Nigerian leader in history has benefitted from a production level of 2.1m barrels per day and an oil price above $100. What did he do with it? Kainji dam was built 60yrs ago by Balewa, we are enjoying it today. Which dam, which power stations, which rail, which roads did Jonathan build?

The irony seems lost on you that you hail a man for our best economic period, yet there are no legacies left behind for the future generations.

i dont have a problem with criticisms of any govt but come with facts.
