What is the need/essence of these kind of questions in the first place? Will the interviewer also sit there if he/she finds a better offer somewhere else? 🤣 |

Even the person asking will leave if better pay comes. What's the point of that question... Is it a job or enslavement camp? |

![]() These are tricky questions..... Whether yes or no, your reason must align with whatever values or goals you expect from the company or pursue individually..... But most importantly, avoid selling yourself short.... |

I will first all ask for a salary increase the way their response will determine my decision. |

CodeTemplarr:perfect response. It's up to the interviewer to interpret it as he deems fit. After all more money is also career growth. |

BXNX:This is an off balance question. Off balance question should go with off balance answer. My response: are you saying that this company is not competitive enough? |

My answer will be no, since they buried my umbilical cord there. I will advise my recruitment team against asking funny questions after I set up a business. |

Simply say "i want to work and connect and become a productive member of a community. I don't think it will be that easy to leave my job environment where i have cultivated to the progress and have amassed vast supporters of friends that i now look to as family." Over all, it will sound somehow to give a monosyllabic response to the question |

So they still ask this kind of interview questions? Go and check the companies asking this uselsss questions, na that kind company dey use work kill staff with little pay. Sensible companies won’t ask this kind of questions |
| Re: In An Interview, If Asked Will You Leave If A Better Job Comes Along? by Omoawoke(m): 5:12pm On Sep 23, 2025 |
BXNX:Not only classic? How does this kind of interview question determine a candidate’s credibility and skills? It doesn’t just make sense… The question is irrelevant and doesn’t have anything to do with the job and skills required.. Pls go and update and see current behavioral interview questions and technical questions |

This is how I will answer the question based on my interests. I have keen interest in XYZ Company because of its sophisticated R&D equipment and innovative procedures. I value knowledge and skill development far above just monetary benefits. My focus is to grow technically and practically here, contribute meaningfully, and build a strong career foundation. If the work environment remains supportive and growth opportunities continue, I see myself staying long-term. |

6months is enough for me to know because my mental health is more important than my financial health. But for now this cake is better. |

Chatgpt comes to rescue. 1. Show commitment to growth in their company: > “I’m not the type to jump ship just because something ‘better’ comes along. For me, what matters is growth, learning, and being part of a team where I can make real impact. If your company continues to offer those opportunities, I’ll have no reason to look elsewhere.” 2. Flip the question toward your motivation: > “I believe the best way to build a career is to commit to where you are and grow there. My focus right now is this role and what I can contribute here. If I keep learning, developing, and adding value, then I’ll be satisfied and won’t need to think about leaving.” 3. Be diplomatic if pressed further: > “Like anyone, I want to keep advancing in my career. But I don’t believe in job-hopping. I prefer to grow with an organization that invests in me, and from everything I’ve learned about your company, this feels like the right place to do that.” 👉 The key is: don’t promise you’ll never leave, but show that you’re serious about staying as long as the job offers growth and fulfillment. |

BXNX:I'm focused on this role and delivering results. If a better opportunity arises, I'll consider it based on my goals and values. Never mention money or be accertive that you ll take it The use of "consider" makes it 50-50 |

Make sure you squeeze the life out of them. Pause, take a deep breath then ask the mofo…”what’s your definition of a better job” Look that person deep down into his soul and recount why you chose the company. Make sure you deflate his 2 major definition of “better” with your health, well being , opportunity to utilize your skills and career progress, as your top priority. Then tell them about your non-existent professional colleagues that took the leap only to regret. Keep a cool and COOL demure. Las las, the person asking you this question will port if the opportunity pops up. The person Googled the question and only want to hear you respond to that tripe of a question. Few weeks back a CEO resigned to join another company. Who are you NOT to move if you feel it is the best move for you? Ssshhh…. still tell them you are more than happy with what you know about the company and you want to contribute to the success story. |

I was asked a similar question, recently After reviewing my credentials, the panelists (including the MD) said "you are a PhD material. We are afraid you will leave very soon if employed and we don't want someone we will train and the person leaves like that" My response is "Though, I don't have plan on going for my PhD soon or ever. However, It is certain I won't be with the company forever. Someday, somehow, I'd to leave whether for PhD or any other mission but I am very confident that for the periods I am with this company, I will contribute to best of my ability and I am sure I will not perform below par I got the job though but I declined because of poor remuneration |
