I doubt it; most rich neighborhoods are usually situated in levelled grounds well above sea level, unlike Lekki and most parts of Lagos Island.

I was telling a friend recently that I would rather buy a luxury property within GRA Ikeja than Lekki and its environs if I have the means due to the flooding issues

About few months ago Lagos state government issued a statement warning about flooding to come this year . They advised people living in flood prone areas and communities around the Lagos lagoon and Ogun river ( some parts of Ikorodu , Berger, Mile 12 , etc ) to relocate .

I was wondering if the advisory made sense because I don’t seem to understand where they expect those people to move to . The tone of the advisory sounded like there’s nothing the government can do about the floods ; so they expect the people to resort to self help .
