LASG ENGAGES COMPUTER VILLAGE STAKEHOLDERS ON RELOCATION TO KATANGOWA

The Lagos State Government has engaged stakeholders of the Computer Village, Ikeja, on the proposed relocation of the market to the ICT and Business Park, Katangowa, Agbado Oke-Odo.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Urban Development, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, who spoke during the meeting at the market square, Otigba Street, Ikeja on Monday, said that the meeting was at the behest of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who directed that there should be an inclusive process in which beneficiaries play an active role in the ongoing relocation effort.

"In line with the Governor’s directive and to demonstrate the openness and transparency of the Lagos State Government, we have brought this meeting to you in your market for the first time since the commencement of the exercise some 15 years ago", he said.

Oki said that the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu was committed to the speedy completion of the relocation exercise as it was expediting action on the construction of the ultramodern ICT and Business Park and its complementary facilities such as hotels, banking hall, recreation centre, car parks, fire station, police post and access roads, among others.

He said that moving the ICT business from Ikeja, whose original residential status had been bastardised by the organic growth of business activities, to the purpose-built ICT and Business Park, Katangowa would offer a win-win situation to both the government and the traders, especially in the areas of business optimisation and a serene environment.

He urged stakeholders of the computer village to embrace the good gestures of the Lagos State Government and cooperate fully to facilitate speedy and seamless movement to the designated site to take maximum advantage of opportunities therein.

He enjoined them to henceforth bring back sanity to the Ikeja computer village suburb by desisting from trading on the street or displaying wares on the road, road setbacks, or drainage setbacks, while assuring them of the State Government’s commitment to sustainable, people-focused urban development.

Director of Urban Development, Tpl. Olalekan Odujebe and Tpl. Olayinka Bello made a presentation that highlighted ongoing efforts and benefits inherent in the relocation exercise.

The Iyaloja of the Market, Chief (Mrs.) Abisola Azeez expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for the initiative, adding that the relocation, when completed, would further enhance the market's potential and provide a more conducive environment for traders and customers.

Also at the meeting were the General Manager, Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), Tpl. Oladimeji Animashaun; Coordinating Director, Lagos State Building Control Agency, (LASBCA), Builder Florence Gbaye; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Urban Development, Mr. Segun Williams and Executive members of the Computer village market association.

This engagement is very important. Everything no suppose be fight. However, LASG should build a more decent market for them

I cannot believe that Computer Village is running on generators. Whenever you visit there, the cacophonies of noise from generators cannot even allow you make calls and their network is always terrible too.

This is supposed to be a digital market and those things should be sorted.

I still have 36 units in my meter, the meter is still blinking as usual but no light in my apartment.

Thought it was an electrical issue and called an electrician who charged me and after about 30 minutes of guess work, concluded I call on AEDC staff. I did and I was told my meter cover was left open and it has triggered tamper Mode and charged me 50k to provide me with a 20-digit code to clear it.

I tell an say I no get that amount make him reduce but the guy no gree o.

Please someone with similar experience should help me out.

How did you resolve it please?

I hope they are not planning to demolish the whole building at Computer village to pave way for their plan to build staff quarters for Lagos state staffs.

It is a case of robbing Petwr to pay Paul.

Don't give them a dime. That tamper mode is common to some set of old prepaid meters especially those given free of charge by the government some few years ago.....there is customer service line by the AEDC in your state, call the line and you will be provided with the a clearance code to get knock off the tamper mode. Tamper mode is not your fault, therefore, you ain't obligated to pay a dime.....at worst go to the Zonal area office of AEDC and complain.......
