During the ceremony, the Fuji singer delivered a set that praised Oba Ladoja but also appeared to take subtle jabs at other traditional rulers present. His lyrics caught the attention of many attendees and generated reactions across social media platforms.
Oba Ladoja’s Message

In his inaugural speech, Oba Ladoja appealed to President Tinubu to support initiatives aimed at the development of Ibadan ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Taye Currency’s performance, however, slightly overshadowed the historic occasion, as fans debated whether his lyrics were appropriate for a coronation ceremony attended by prominent figures.

The incident highlights the scrutiny public performances face, especially during high-profile cultural events in Nigeria.

The subtle dig was not at other traditional rulers. It was clearly aimed at Tinubu. If anything, the lukewarm reception Tinubu received in Ibadan clearly showed that the SW is not fully in his grasp as the APC SW bloc like to pretend.

The Oba himself is a political Oba. Saheed Osupa should h s been invited.

Make him play. Does that will dance will dance, and those that want to vex should vex. I would have thought Obesere or K1 would perform.

It’s not Oba that planned the event, it’s the state government and you know Currency is bonafide PDP member. But I thought they said Osupa too will play probably after the coronation.
