The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a Kaduna-based social media influencer, popularly known as Sarkin Sultan, over alleged involvement in cyber-related offences.

Sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama on Saturday that the influencer was apprehended in the early hours of the morning following a series of petitions lodged against him.

According to the sources, a complainant had alleged that the influencer threatened to expose her private images on social media, prompting security agencies to launch an investigation.

The sources further disclosed that preliminary findings uncovered several activities linked to the allegations.

They added that the suspect is expected to be charged to court on Monday after investigations are concluded.

Last night around 2 a.m., unknown men stormed the residence of @Sarki_sultan and abducted him without any clear explanation, seizing his phone and leaving behind his wife and child.

According to his wife, the assailants, six in number, arrived with two Prado vehicles. Five of them were in uniform while one wore a shadda kaftan. They repeatedly knocked on his door until he answered. His wife recounted that they presented an ID card and identified themselves as “SS.” They also left with Sultan’s car.

Sultan is widely known as a strong critic of the Kaduna State Government and other APC officials, consistently holding them accountable to their agendas and promises.

Sadly, in Nigeria, such criticisms are often not tolerated. There have been numerous cases of individuals being targeted by security agencies for speaking against the government, while criminals like Turji continue to roam the forests freely, terrorizing villages.

We demand a clear explanation and call for the immediate release of our brother, Sultan.

Update on Sultan's Status and Investigation.

​We want to clearly state that Sultan has not been abandoned. A dedicated team is actively working to uncover the full truth of this matter.

​The team includes individuals associated with "Elrufai boys," along with @KHALYD16, @AM_Saleeeem, @Mallam_jabeer and @mni_JJ, who are collaborating with a team of lawyers to thoroughly investigate the circumstances. Our primary goal is to ensure Sultan receives a fair hearing and that justice is served.

​Our legal counsel has communicated with the girl who was allegedly involved (Hafsat paki), who has denied any involvement.
​This leaves us to focus our inquiry on the possibility of involvement from the State Government and/or the Federal Government as the prime areas of suspicion.

​We are committed to getting to the bottom of this, securing a free and fair hearing for Sultan, and exposing whoever is behind these actions.
