The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.

That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

Your tribe is ingrained in your DNA, dude. The fact that he can't speak Yoruba doesn't strip him of his Yoruba-ness.

It's just like saying that a boy isn't a boy because he doesn't have beards. Sounds stew peed, right?
Make una no dey talk all these nonsense abeg?

You are not a complete member of a tribe if you cannot speak its language nor understand and embrace its culture!

Well bought up woman.
Congrats to the new king.
Ibadan kings and forefathers like Ogunmola, Ibikunle, Aleshinloye, Latoosa, and others, almost all of them warriors they fought and defeated enemies right , left and everywhere, like the Fula*nis who they decimated in times past and the ketu people who they defeated soundly and others.

Ibadan might have been celebrating an 'Em*ir' coronation now had they not done like real warriors and became victorious.....
That, the Ilorin people failed to achieve & now an 'E+mi*r' sits in Ilorin as king. angry angry

Tribalism for saying it is very important to marry from a very good tribe with good culture?
Forget tribalism. Just imagine the show of homely respect from the wife of a governor to the president! I know of many governor's wives in the country that would only extend a handshake.

In Yorubaland, that respect is in our DNA no matter how highly placed we are.

That is a first lady of a state o, don't you like that?

She's Yoruba.
I read their authentic story from a credible source years back.

She is in reality an Ijaw woman who hails from Rivers States but she and 'Seyi Makinde met each other in Port Harcourt when he was working and living there as a young Engineer. However, if she also bears the name 'Remi, it means that her husband may have given her that name in addition to her already existing Ijaw names as well after marriage to show his love for her. Ijaws are a people of culture so they don't mind genuflecting or adapting to other people's cultures but will revolt strongly just like the Yoruba folks have done in past history for centuries when faced with injustice.

This is one of the reason as a Yoruba man you must marry from a very good tribe. A tribe with good culture and tradition.
Define culture and traditions

Betty is the worst of them all.
After all said and done, she lost
Her husband
The glowing legacies of Arakunrin Akeredolu
Her in-law in Owo
The people of Ondo State
Destroyed the future of the children.

All because of her selfishness, dirty politics at the expense of Arakunrin's health, lack of home training and self development, uncouthness.

May Betty never happen to you 🙏

This is one thing I really love about the Yoruba tribe - the way they greet elders!
It made me nearly marry a Yoruba lady from Oyo, whom I met during NYSC, but I wasn't smart in making my marriage moves in time!

Hang on. Not quite.

Yoruba is not something you tick off a box because your parents are yoruba. Hence the concept of omo ale vs omoluabi. Yoruba is a civilization, a way of viewing the world and responding to it. It recognises affinity and anyone who would govern the yorubas must see it as their primary identity and be willing to assert its claims and culture against any contrary civilization or world view. There are Brazilians and Cubans who are more qualified by this metric to govern yoruba land than some of the people who successfully tick off dna boxes.

Take a look at the five pillars of omoluabi.

Good morning.
